These guys have done several time trials already, they know a fair bit about them before they get to the final stage. It's not like the recruiters are going to be blindsided by combine results. Would be more about where they are trending?
His brother Ollie has just been delisted, could make Taj more appreciative of any chance at AFL he gets. Although it sounds like continued injury issues played a part in Ollie's delisting.

Almost zero chance he gets taken imo, he's very heavy.
I think club will take punt on him. watched him a couple of times has something about him

Lucky we just got hold of one.
I have two questions.
Have we lost anybody to lifetime DFA? Also, do we get compo if we lose a player to lifetime DFA assuming they get a contract big enough?

Yes we get compo based on the same system
So what is the difference? If you are out of contract like Hamling was, we can't keep him anyway and he gets to where he wants as he's not one of our highly paid players. The guys in the 30-45 range on a list are basically free anyway.
Shoota might have gotten us a decent pick too as a free agent considering the Peatling & Battle compo's.

Markov was already a free agent for life whenever he's out of contract, and I think Johnson now will be too. I am not seeing how the situation is materially different to Knobel personally
I think the main difference is that Johnson will be delisted in twelve months and Markov is always going to on the fringes of the squad.
Tbh given how BS free agency compensation is, this could actually work out reasonably well for us down the track. Imagine getting a second round pick for your third choice ruck - we wouldn’t have got that for Meek and look how good he is and let’s be honest was to a different extent (was always too good to be back up).
I must admit unless Darcy can stay on the field and start living up to his potential more regularly I will be sliding towards the corner that thinks we should have cashed him in when his value was peak.
I remember how good Griffin was when he finally got a chance when Sandi was injured & what Meek has shown.
We certainly know how to pick rucks in the draft. And it does seem madness to allow Knobel to become a free agent with what he’s shown.
Genuine question - has Knobel shown that much? Thought he played most of the season in the Ressies?
Clubs come harder for free agents as they know they can get them for no draft capital
Shoota had clubs in his ear as soon as he turned good in 2021, it ended up being a recurring thing, eventually we just decided to do a trade while he was contracted
If clubs want to pick them up then they have to take the contract
Noone is paying Johnson for his contract, hes a massive failure
Markov is the exact scenario we should have been doing, delisting someone with FA already (McDonald) and relisting on the rookie list
Instead Knobel always has lifetime FA now

Trade idea (this accounts for Ashcroft, Lombard, and Kako bids). I'll caveat this with the fact I know very little about the players in the draft.
Freo give: pick 17, future third
Sydney give: picks 22, 25
I think Sydney could desperately want Jobe Shanahan to bolster their forward line. A future third helps them with academy bids next year.
At 22 and 25 Freo could get two of: Cooper Hynes, Matt Witlock, Jessie Dattoli, Hamish Davis, Ollie Hannaford, just to name a few. Retaining their pick in the early 30s, the Dockers could then grab a KPP prospect such as Charlie Nicholls or James Barrat. This would be quite a good result for Freo to stay in the deep end of this apparently strong draft despite having traded for Bolton.

I won't be surprised if true for Narkle, club was asked in mutliple interviews about him and never made a commitment.
Barich was the one who ran with him being signed, everyone else just ran with us having interest
Feels like a big dropoff from the top 15 (excluding academy picks)
Much prefer the quality over quantity at this point in our list build
