The problem is that a 2km trial is not the best test of capacity to run out an AFL game.

We got some great runners, no question, but your point about Walsh, who is one of the comps best in game runners, shows this ain’t that helpful a guide.

100% this.

Walsh is arguably the hardest in-game runner in the comp. 2km trial gives an indication but really isn't THAT helpful.

Regardless, I'm very happy to see Binns and Elijah up there. Binnsy may very well have a break out year. I can feel a huge one coming for him.

I am not in favour of casting their roles in stone. Despite Charlie’s running power, I tend to lean the other way with Charlie doing the bulk of the work out of the square. We know Harry can be fragile in front of goal. Keep him “up”. He gets plenty of scoring opportunity, but is a weapon presenting defensively and offensively up the ground. Mix it up at very least, so neither becomes stale nor has to cop the brunt of the attention from the defenders.

There is a huge case for playing TDK, JSOS, or Martin (possibly add Elijah or Moir in time as well) out of the square demanding attention with both of the guns using their mobility to change things up when connecting forward. Harry and Charlie both are well within range from the arc, so don’t need to be in the square to hit the scoreboard.

actually prefer Harry kicking for goal from 50 out

2007 53 goals won B&F

2008 48 goals 3rd B&F
Equal 3rd brownlow mostly playing as a winger

1- 24 Cooney
2- 23 Black
3- 22 Ablett
3- 22 Richardson
nice work, fbb.......:thumbsu:

I reckon pic 10 is the top 8 in the time trial.
Top 5 mentioned. Walshy and Cez and one other with a strapping band below the knee and wrist taped with an obscure, but not overly full hairline. Thinking it might be Doc, can anyone confirm?

Looking in the other photos, only one i can see with that strapping is Crippa in pics 2 and 6

I'd love to see how Walsh would go in a repeat sprint test. Probably more similar to in game running. Though I suspect the top group would be similar to the 2km, just reordered.

Have we ever had a group that can run and repeat run so well?

Walsh Cottrell Hollands Hollands Charlie Cerra Docherty Acres could outwork anyone

Have to love seeing Fanatsia tackling hard in the wet, C.Durdin without strapping on shoulder, Jack and Kennedy as fit as I have seen them, O’Keefe looking mature and physical, McGovern looking trim in January.

All these little improvements will make the difference 😎
What we need now above all else is a decent luck with injuries - was it Brisbane who had a few seasons of very minor injuries?

This fragility has crept in since losing his role out of the square. Getting him back to what he knows, playing out of the square should give him higher-quality looks which should aid in building his confidence - he offers a better focal point for the hack kicks deep inside 50 too.
With Charlie at CHF, there's scope for him to be the best player in the comp as it'll keep him engaged in the play and the opposition will have a hard time finding a suitable matchup.
That said, they can always be switched around to exploit matchups.

Sorry to burst ya bubble Soap, but Durds still has the strapping on his shoulder...you did get me a little excited though, cos I reckon a fit Durdin will make a massive difference to our forward half. Absolutely love the little bloke 🥰

Looks like a tight finish in the 2km. Would have been less then 3 seconds between Cottrell, Binns, Hollands based on that footage. Looks like Binns had a decent lead early so fair effort from Cottrell to chase him down. Would love to see times. Pretty confident all 3 would have gone sub 5:50.

Looks like Walsh finished 6th after the 5 named earlier (Cotrell, Binns, Hollands, Curnow, Holland). Not a big surprise.

Bugger. Thought I saw him without it. Good to see him in full training anyway 👍

Walsh 6th Doc 7th according to that video. And a new kid about to be lapped by Cottrell as he passed the line. Ramsay?

Great to see Elijah right up there in the top bracket.

Reckon he could be something pretty special now he's in a professional environment and back home among family and friends. Those who were at the recent open training session got a first hand look of his talent.

Could be the 'steal' of the trade period due to his indiscretion. Given that we were already negotiating for him prior to the charge, you wonder what we were prepared to originally offer. There's little doubt our 2nd rounder would have disappeared in the trade....which means Billy owes him a coffee :thumbsu::cool:☕

One thing is for sure - Voss loves players with top end endurance. If Elijah is in the top 5 he's every chance to play.

Is it just me or does Cottrell look noticeably bigger ?
Doing well to still win the time trial with extra beef to carry around.
He does, but nevermind that - Charlie looks like he is in the best shape in his career and is outperforming every single one of our midfielders in the 2km. He'd be 93-95kg, that's incredible.
