Thanks Soap. Interesting we are going probables vs possibles.

From the training videos I watched last year plus the session I attended we seemed to go with even teams more often then not except for the forward line. In contrast, I attended multiple Brisbane Lions match sims and they always went a clear probables vs possibles.

There are pros and cons to each. Even teams gets you a better contest. Probables vs Possibles helps you build cohension. Might suggest cohesion is more of a focus. Might also be a relfection of our improved depth as I imagine our possibles team can put up a decent contest now anyway.

All those names you mentioned would be borderline so makes sense they are moving bewteen the teams. Do you know if Cowan and E.Hollands are playing in the probables?

Only an observation but seems to now be that way? Connection is definitely a focus.

Hollands in probables and Cowan in possibles but they are two that have changed it up.

My feel is they still aren't settled on best side and am seeing different combinations. Just my take

Something a bit different. My Top 5 pre season performers

1. Lachie Fogarty - In everything. Middle/HF and hasn't missed a beat, doesn't make mistakes and does the 1% as well as any
2. Sam Walsh - Not surprising to many but flying and as fit as he has ever been. Clocking the miles and trains like plays
3. Matt Kennedy - Fittest I have ever seen him. Stronger but lighter and covering the ground so well. Even looks a bit quicker
4. TDK - Highlight machine but working hard. Marking a highlight all over the ground. Seems more confident
5. Lachie Cowan - Now looks comfortable. Extremely fit, tough and involved and doesn't stop. Kicking a highlight. Matching Newman Saad for contribution

Best Newbie - Wilson ahead of Hollands & Monahan

Could have picked another 30 but these have stood out to me

Said earlier in the Best 22 thread that I feel like Fog is massively underrated. If Fantasia, Motlop and Martin are fit and contributing goals I feel like Fogs a lock for the B22. His link work around the ground is the best of any of our forwards and his forward pressure elite too. Can pinch hit in the midfield well in bursts and if he starts hitting the scoreboard a bit more he will be a very very hard player to displace.

Good to hear he's stood out in training, noticed he's been in a heap of pre season content by CFC.

Some updates:

Everything is very much about match sims. Never stops
Seem to more playing probables v possibles
No real surprises in Probables and I have seen names like Fogarty DC Cottrell Cincotta Kemp play in both
Players miss at different times but seems to be more about management than injury
Never seen players hit so hard. It's ruthless and Voss keeps pushing them
Style is definitely contest then spread. Players expected to cover more ground and get numbers to contest
Skills are very good. We hit targets better than I have ever seen at club
EVERYONE looks good. No exaggeration. Impossible to pick on any player about lack of effort or fitness

This is music to the ears.. “Skills are very good. We hit targets better than I have ever seen at club”.
Watching football with less frustration is being looked forward to.

Chris Johnson (#9) anyone… 🤦‍♂️

Kicked a brilliant, game sealing goal against Freo in Perth. Was a flop for every other second he wore a Carlton jumper

If you look at other teams that have similar players. You probably look at beau mcreery. A link up player that tackles hard. He’s our version (fog)

4 times.....right in front of me......

McCreery kicks goals every week … star
0.7, 10 disposals a game. Talented but far from a star.

Statistically could easily argue Fog had a better year discounting that he missed half of the season. More goal assists, score involvements, tackles and clearances.

Mcreery a more talented player imo but Fog was very very good 2nd half of the year. Ball use is very smart and gets to good areas up the field.

I don't usually remark on player physique, because I think it's connection to performance is overstated, but the boys are looking trim and well-defined.

Might be the club photographer's skills

Russell has upped the training load this year. Intended approach and outcome evident.

I like Fog. I had basically given up on him. The way he turned it around in the second half of last year was very good (finally injury free).

But if we are going to play him in the same position as last year, he has to hit the scoreboard. If he’s 35-40 metres out, it needs to be six points more often than not. Until he does that, he’s a chance of having others overtake him.

He has form Russell, remember how he completely screwed his last club by taking the time to build them into a premiership winning wrecking ball?
poty (early doors)......

Agree i think.

But does that mean Bolton is a complete failure because of his Carlton form? Of course Bolton is not a failure but then it makes you think.

Stuff is complex.

he's a ball of muscle which helps that spark although I gotta say I never considered him as fast as others have suggested.......
I think Durds has him by a meter or two. But they’re both quick.
