Reckon this is the tightest election they’ve had in a long time?
It's the tightest election since...last election.

And last election was the tightest election since...the election before that.

You guys got me thinking about compulsory voting. I don't think that would work in the US unless there was a serious paradigm shift in how the entire country goes about elections. First, it would have to be federally controlled, with paid time off work or a holiday in order give so many different people the ability to go vote. Probably more voting locations and options. Enforcement, no idea.
That's just off the top of my head.
My first thought though was the Republicans would never, ever permit it. They hate how many voters there are already.
How does it work in Aus?
I think it would take a state-based ballot initiative first; say needing 60%. Then hopefully it would create a domino effect and change the paradigm. But of course, the Republicans would take it to the Supreme Court and given their ideology they would...

Of course send it back to the states because they are for Federalism and the Constitution or...

Of course block it because...<insert bs, esoteric reason>.

Easy , voting on a Saturday , early voting and postal voting allowed . Controlled by a federal organization . Fortunately we dont have the aggro the usa has had in last 8 years

Usually 90 percent plus voting
Inb4 hillary still complaining

Fair enough, they've earnt it.
But Biden didn't say on national television that Trump supporters were eating their neighbours pets.

I do want people to walk me through how a deplorables comment hurt Hilary in 2016 or would hurt the Dems now.

Are those who hate them going to vote even harder than they are now?

Even though some have tried and been caught trying to do, they can’t vote more than once.

Oh yeah, the process would be tortuous akin to a constitutional amendment. I could see it getting the culture war treatment from the GOP and once there maybe impossible except through decree. I think most people at first blush wouldn't oppose it, but if it gets demonized like so many things then good effin luck. :madv1:

How does enforcement work? Knock on the door week after?

Do Saturday workers get allowed time off to go to the polls, by law? I can see some employers being stingy about it.

Sadly there is a private court case in nevada where daddy murdoch is trying to give favourite son lachlan to run news corp by changing his family trust and diddle his other children who dont follow his views.
I'm aware the Murdoch empire may not change much, I'm just sick of Rupe still being alive. I'm struggling to think of one person who's done more damage to politics than him.

It will never happen in the US because they don't have a Labour Party like Australia did in 1911 under Andrew Fisher.

In an alternate universe where Rupert Murdoch doesn't have a media empire that cheerleads for the right, Trump doesn't get elected.
But he did and when covid came he dropped the ball and stuffed up America with his lying how bad covid was . He lost the election and an unsuccessful insurrection saved usa from disaster . He is trying again and will use any illegal action to succeed
