I really enjoy the draft, but don't claim to be a expert on it. From what I can Gather Lindsay plays as an outside/Balanced Mid, He was also named all Australian U18 on the Wing.I'm not sure how those 3 draftees will solve our wing issue. I.agree our wings aren't the strongest.
I'd like Berry for his defensive forward pressure and ability to kick goals
Kicking / decision making but he's one of a few with a very large range
As 20 kg heavier guy would find it very difficult to keep up with smaller guy zigzaging thru the traffic isn't it?
It is not all about size I think...It is more about balance of height and strenght(bigger players) and skill, speed and stamina(smaller guys)...By the way Richmond premiership side had 1 player taller than 195cm
Champion is WC NGA so no one really cares as a bid won’t be before 30 and they will match, unless we get the feeling WC don’t have a list spot available. Why is he not projected higher?
Looking at those highlights I'm leaning more towards him over Berry...
Cal gets the inside info from clubs. Always pay attention to him late. The great thing about pick 14 is it really looks like it’s close to where the consensus top end talent starts to drop off.
I think we’ll be delighted by who we end up with.
Assuming Smith, O’Sullivan, Draper, Smillie & Lalor are off the board.
You’d assume a couple of key position players are going to go off the board thinking Armstrong & Tauru.
It’s then just take your pick from who is left from….
Lindsay
Travaglia
Trainor
Hotton
Langford
Berry
Allan
Shanahan
Reid
You could honestly make a case for any of these kids.
Cal’s phantom draft will be fascinating

Top 4 in 2km time trial , top 3 agility, his top end speed is very good AND is highly rated kickAnyone see value in Will Hayes late?
Bell seems to have moved more to a back seat these days so I’m not sure that he has much input. I don’t even know what his job title is. Walls is the one that needs to like the kid and 30 is way too high for Champion in my opinion.I'm hearing Bell really likes the kid and is pushing for the club to bid at pick 30, so the Eagles miss him or they burn their picks for next year.

Perfect for developing small /half forward
Will Hayes is an intriguing talent who hasn't always found consistent form this year but has more than enough about him to have clubs interested come the November draft. This was one of his best performances for the season showing his lovely turn of pace, agility to dodge and weave around opponents, strong disposal skills and the moxie to take the game on with attacking and decisive play.
I’d happily take him with our last ND pickIs crazy skilled, athletic, determined and loves Freo. Size would be my only concern but rookie pick would be perfect.
That might happen, if they fill up their main list with national draft picks and we can pick him after that with a late national draft pick. Depends how many main list spots they have open, I have no idea.Champion is WC NGA so no one really cares as a bid won’t be before 30 and they will match, unless we get the feeling WC don’t have a list spot available.
They've just delisted 3 players, and they've only got three national draft picks. That might happen, if they fill up their main list with national draft picks and we can pick him after that with a late national draft pick. Depends how many main list spots they have open, I have no idea.

I also have a sense the quality drops off this year after around the top 20. If we can't take a high quality prospect who would strengthen our depth in the two clear weaknesses to our list I'd probably rather see the Pick 14 be pushed into next year and used as collateral for potential trades for Kozzy or Chad.
It's probably unlikely any of those three would become solid regular contributors next year but it's also a little unlikely next year is the year we push all the way for the flag. (Not saying it's impossible).
I think this list build is starting to reach a critical stage where we really have just about everything we need and there is more benefit to playing the same 25-26 together as often as possible while adding clear top 10 list quality talent through trade as they come available. I feel another quality Winger is the main thing we are missing apart from a mercurial mid sized fwd, and we just got one of those.
I don't want Champion just because he's from WA, though admittedly it does help; he's probably not getting a game too early in his career, and a WA boy will stick around. From the games I've watched, Champion has a much bigger impact than his stat line. I didn't watch all that much of the u18s (I watched more the year before; I remember looking up the kid with bleached blonde hair to see if we could draft him in 2023, and he was a full year too young.)—but in the games I've watched he'd regularly get the ball and kick produce a goal that made you go "wtf where did that come from". Agility through traffic is something special, very Switta-ish.
(the extraction at 1:40 case in point)
The Watson comparison falls apart a little because Watson 1) has always got a lot of goals from free kicks which just isn't really in Champion's game, 2) Watson might have been very short, but he was always really built, which is a huge advantage in u18s because physical development is very staggered at that age. Champion still needs to pack on some muscle.
The Conrad Williams comparison might end up apt—I was also really keen on Williams but he just never managed to bulk up even to an acceptable AFL winger level. That goes on to
I remember I was super annoyed when we drafted Fyfe over Aaron Black from memory. I also remembr many annoyed when we drafted Serong because we didnt need a smal mid. Same with Neale. I was also really happy when we drafted Josh Simpson and Max Duffy due to their highlights. I wont be disappointed with whoever we pick.Same mate I love draft time too and I'm far from an expert.
I go off some highlights packages and draft bios and see what sounds good. We are bloody lucky to have Walls as I would not have picked Young and especially Serong at that stage of the draft even Chapman the following year. How wrong was I. Chapman covers Young at half back while Young and Serong are arguably the best two mids of that draft.
If he nails pick 14 this year with the incoming Bolton then we will be in the perfect sweet spot..
Taj Hotton is a player that’s hard to place in this draft. The ACL is an obvious concern but he was touted as top 10 pick before it happened.
Wonder if he’d slide to 30? Reminds me a bit of Brayden George that went to North a few years back, in terms of the situation he’s in.
Bastyy Ysaye Chris25
Where do you guys see him landing and would we have interest at 14 or 30?
