It's weird to use percentage rather than finishing position. Percentage makes the Dogs a much harder opponent than GWS for example which is nonsense.

If you randomly selected opponents for us the average finishing position from last year would be 9.82. The actual average finishing position last year of our double ups is 8.33.

So our double ups finished 1.5 places higher than you would get by random chance. It's clearly a tougher than average draw.

Hmm i wonder how easiest to hardest changes if we use average finishing position for everyone like you have for us above.

Why is it weird? Percentage is a much better representation of how a team is going.

We actually should rank ladder positions based off percentage rather then wins and loses. The only reason we dont is because it makes games more entertaining.

I actually think it's a hard fixture particularly the block where we have Carlton Collingwood (much as I think the pies will slide they get up for us) and gws with 2 Adelaide trips bookending it. But our last 2 months is very friendly with Richmond twice in 8 weeks plus north and ess and Port and stk at home.

We will need to get off to a strong start so we can manage players in the back end.

It’s not even an advantage the soft kills at the end.
Eagles 100 up at HT, bye, port (massive win)
another bye.
That’s not ideal.

There is on face value logic in what you say

However Geelongs 84 point demolition of Port Ade in SA , was just a masterclass of high skill football , and outside of the 22 GF probably the best exhibition by the Cats in the past decade , so so impressive and fantastic to watch

I've seen first hand that it does have an impact. In my situation, my eldest was very keen on footy and was always desperate to watch it and kick the footy outside etc. He got upset whenever a night game was on because knew he wouldn't be able to watch a whole game (none of the game if it is a Thursday night school night). The first killer was the night grand final in 2020, he just couldn't stay awake. He has ended up playing basketball and it is by far his favourite sport now purely because he has developed a what's the point attitude towards footy and all the scheduling in horrible timeslots for kids. Put a footy and a basketball in his hands and it isn't even a contest which one will win out.

It's a shame because the AFL have forgotten that kids are the future of the sport. It used to be cricket in the summer and footy in the winter. That was it. Now it's basketball all year round, soccer etc taking a lot of kids away from footy. TV and scheduling definitely does play a role in that. If you can't watch much of a sport you will lose interest very quickly. I lost all interest in the EPL once it moved from Foxtel to Optus or wherever it's gone because I can't watch the games anymore and I can't afford to sign up to more subscription services.
What a weird post.
So why is your son playing basketball? Because its obviously not from watching it.

Basketball is one of the easiest sports to watch on TV, especially across the Australian summer with the volume of matches available - I can watch an NBA replay right now if I want

Further from Fox:

Analysis

It’s all about getting a good rest for Geelong in the first 15 rounds of their fixture; and they’ll be absolutely loving it. The Cats do need to bare one five-day break before July, but in return, they’ve managed to snag a nine-day break, 10-day break, and wait for it... an 11-day break! We’re not sure how they’ve managed to land such a strong amount of rest, but when you add in the fact they’ll get an extra home game at GMHBA Stadium next season – they’ve nailed it. The Cats will play Richmond and St Kilda twice in a win but will be tasked with double ups against the likes of Brisbane, GWS and Port Adelaide in tougher games.

Fixture difficulty (based on double-ups): 8th-easiest

Grade: A+
