Hardly rewriting history.

At one stage Papley wanted to be traded. If he left then yes. He would have been a big loss at the time.

Bringing in Daniher wasn’t a bad option.

Give in our history of trading for key forwards it wasn’t an unusual trade.

Anyway Daniher retired with a premiership.

McDonald who knows. Yet to reach his potential.
I was so relieved we didn’t take Joe, injury after injury plus personal issues. Absolutely was the right call - he came good - much to my surprise but that is one call (and there aren’t many) I give our recruiters a thumbs up.

The issue wasn't Daniher as a player, it was how much he was going to cost.

Daniher retired with a premiership. He would have retired without a premiership if we had done that trade and we wouldn't have Papley or McDonald.

Brisbane ended up getting him for nothing as a free agent which is what always should have been our play.

It would have been a terrible deal then and now. Papley alone for Daniher would have been a bad deal.

Yep WTF didn’t we have a crack at him as a free agent?

Without knowing all the details, on face value I would be open to Sydney offering JUH a deal.

From what I can gather it looks like the bloke had a rough childhood and got into the (very) wrong crowd.

Assuming JUH is interested in coming and commits to turning his life around, the deal could be structured so that he has to keep good company. It could also be set up for him only to need to train and get his life right at the start. He could play games once he feels ready and he has the trust of the team.

He could be really good value for a club that gets him right. And I think he is just the kind of forward we need.

I still feel like the swans erred by not supporting Taylor a bit more. The rapidity of the decision seemed based on keeping a clean brand for sponsors and fans. Taylor did something truly terrible, but we picked him knowing he had a troubled background and Covid was not an easy time for anyone. It’s hard to judge without all the facts, but my gut says he should have been given time to rehabilitate and make amends, even if he never played again.

I read gun in the change rooms pointed at lobb, players refusing to play with him and has done other stuff with poor behaviour etc

could all be complete horseshit

I agree though depending what's true, what he did etc , talent wise he is worth a look. But club would know the real stories before they got such a player
No where near the change rooms

JUH's career isn't necessarily over, but you'd want to see promising signs and commitment BEFORE considering him.

As for Taylor, nope. No way. He stuffed up during Covid hubs so was already on thin ice. There's no excuse, Covid or otherwise (give us a break), that lessens his behaviour or means we should have kept him on. He pled guilty. He can rehabilitate outside of club employment and any similar actions by players in future should be met with a swift exit.

He did it very tough at Scotch College

We need a key forward badly. I don't know what's going on with JUH but we should be looking at him, Oscar Allen would be the dream but we probably don't have the cash unless Warner leaves and he probably wouldn't choose us. Which is why JUH may be our best option as a player that needs a change of scenery.
We took Barry Hall and Plugger two Victorian hard nuts with less than flattering reputations and gave them a great life up here in Sydney and in return they gave us goals. LOTS of goals. If not JUH (I have no idea of any issues he might have) then one of the Bulldogs bigs has to be up here next year.

Chad Warner was the most ferocious and tenacious mid we've had since Brett Kirk. And our club & coaches have turned him into Chad Wingard, a one way running fringe dweller around the ruck.
I was hoping Cox would put an end to that, and have him harden TF up again, but it's gotten demonstrably worse in the first two games. Two tackles in two games. Cantering about until he sees an opportunity to look good in attack.

Wingard-esque.

When Cox is fired at the end of next year we need to reset the coaching staff entirely and get in someone that values contested possessions, physically dominanting your oppenent as well as the run. Ship off the big girl's blouses like McDonald if we can get a first for him at end of year which along with the Chad mid first rounder we get ought to allow a bit of a reset. Probably WCE splite their first for two in the teens and we take those two for both Chad and McDonald? Or the first for both?

Barry Hall to be appointed as club psychologist & boxing coach, appointments to be undertaken in that dual capacity.
