Would rather not trade Chad out or be pigeon holes if they improve
King in particular if he stays fit can rocket up the draft board.
I think it's more likely we package our two picks and move up tonight, particularly if it gives a shot at Armstrong.
After all the tooing and froing I would like us to use our F1 and whatever else to buy one of Richmond's 20's picks as late as possible to take:
1) Best available KPF (could be Matt Whitlock)
2) Dattoli
3) Hannaford
4) Cochran
We have 4 senior spots and two rookie spots. Those two are committed to Francis and Hamling.
There is a lot of IF's work out next year then. We are in a window NOW, Horse better win next year or he can go elsewhere. Get him the things we lack now, if that means trading a f1 or a f2. We could get a top 35 pick for our f2 (maybe with the Lions).
Every year we hear that this academy kid is awesome, and every year they fall down the boards. Lets be real these are no Callum Mills/Issac Heeney's.
I'd rather not trade Chad either but we also have to be half realistic too, for the record confident he signs for 2 years anyway.
We can flip 2027 and 2026 into next years easily
It's unlikely any draftee in the 20's/ 30's is going to make a dramatic difference to our flag chances next year (in fact it's far more unlikely than one of our kids moving up the leaderboard).
Our issues are between the head of our players and somewhat tactically, not something that is usually fixed on draft night.
Also mentioned it before, 27 will be hard to flip due to being the first of the Tasmania drafts.
I wouldn't be opposed to flipping next year's first if it lands an Armstrong or Shanahan, but I just don't see it happening with next year draft point index changes.
Rampe has mostly been a lockdown KPD.Depends on Trainor's head knocks and how they were acquired.
His top 5 talent, I can also see him slotting in when Rampe finishes up.
Are we going to do something boring like picking a fringe player with a hyphenated name or doing something wild like selecting the obvious well known player?
If by exceptions you mean most of the best KPDs we've had recently, then yeah...Of course there are exceptions. For every one of the above there are 5-6 who fail.
Rampe has mostly been a lockdown KPD.
This is what Trainor is specifically talked about as being deficient in.
He's talked about as if he's a slightly more defensive Blakey.
Not what we need at all, especially since we've got Melican, Snell, and incoming Cochran who could be the intercepting type (as well as Blakey doing it from HB).
Legit lockdown types we're short on, especially as they make up 2 of 3 KPDs in a lineup generally. We have Tmac, Edwards, maybe continue to use Melican.
Archer Day-Wicks (mid/fwd)Are we going to do something boring like picking a fringe player with a hyphenated name or doing something wild like selecting the obvious well known player?
It might if they are a need, Hayward goes down who is the medium? Can we get one in the 26-30 range that would help? This is a very deep draft, it's also why I'm hoping no one bids on Cochrane over the next two nights rookie draft please. Fix the KPF and SF tonight, then ideally take two more before a bid.
27 may have the Tassie ones, but a top 10 pick is still valuable
Day-Wicks (mid/fwd)
Kirkwood-Scott (HB/mid)
Get it's a great draft with depth, but I doubt any KPF or SF prospect make an immediate premiership altering impression next year.onoy reason I can see us trading a future first would be if someone slides and we can grab them.
Tasmania will likely have 6 of the top 10 picks before father son, academy and such (not including a diluted talent pool by potential early draftees being outside the count). With our list profile, 27 draft picks will carry very little currency (also the reason why Fremantle are dreaming when they think 27 can be counted as a future first to be traded for Warner).
Is this a rhetorical question? Are we going to do something boring like picking a fringe player with a hyphenated name or doing something wild like selecting the obvious well known player?
“The likely play is certainly for our first selection at 19, we’ll take what we deem is the best available on our board,” Keane said. Are we going to do something boring like picking a fringe player with a hyphenated name or doing something wild like selecting the obvious well known player?

Strategy worked well when Kinnear let Hawthorn pick Weddle and then picked Kostanty...Kinnear Beatson ---- trades out our picks for early 2nd round so we can all get to bed early.

Yep, because for some reason Beatson did not rate that draft at all. Weddle would be nice to have and we can't even argue that he was unknown as many were expecting him to go around about our pick.
Gruzewski would have been nice. He's broken through to play a few games, performing in VFL.Everyone wanted talls let’s be real none have been great after our selection, Weddle is hardly a tall anyway he’s a good player but he’s not some big hulking key back
