Can someone help me out...It helps North make money but they are only doing once next year and then halving it for another 2 years after that all while offiically pulling out of Tasmania at the end of next year?
Wouldnt it make sense to ramp it up after the Tasmania exit?
Or they just doing a cash grab of 2 mil and hoping that will cure them long term?

So we aren't playing north twice next year despite is finishing in the bottom 3 the last 3 years because they sold a home game to us and travel to South west for their home game against us.

And the dockers get the Optus game when it should be us.

The vafl just love to **** is over repeatedly.

Just watch our fixture next year will be as if we finished in the top 8.

Brisbane, Geelong, GWS, hawks and port twice.

Isn't the rule the double up games are 2 from top 6, 2 from middle 6 and 2 from bottom 6. If one of them is Richmond don't think you can expect North too. As I don't expect Richmond to double against WC and North either. WC to get Optus game in 2026 vs North, isn't that how its working?

This season (2024) we had double up games against 1 top 6 side, 2 middle 6 sides and 3 bottom 6 sides based on the 2023 ladder

I expect that to be the same this year so we’ll have double ups against 3 of Richmond, Adelaide, Melbourne or Gold Coast given North have been ruled out as an option

Supposed to play more double ups against team in your bracket, but like all things the AFL does, it's "flexible"

The AFL uses a ‘weighted rule’ to determine who plays each other twice, breaking the 18 teams into three groups: the top six teams from the previous year’s ladder (based on finals results), the middle six and bottom six.
Teams then play teams that finished in their bracket on the ladder more often - though this rule is not as concrete as it was in the past.

The theatre of posters making up horrible situations in their mind and then melting as if they’ve already happened is the reason I can never quit this site.

Suns at home to start the season wouldve been a tick but they would’ve had a game under their belt already. Not sure why the RD0 teams don’t just play each other in Rd1……. Hopefully we can do to the Suns exactly what the Dockers did to the Lions in the same scenario

We get the Optus game next year - why the heck are you whinging about this?
The year after that back to Bunbury.
In 2018 ( the last time we were any good) the AFL gave the FFC a Gold Coast Suns home game at Optus. I believe the reason was we were going much better than them. That's why the heck I am ****ing whinging.

From all the leaks, I think we might be the only team not to have a Thursday or Friday game. GWS might be the other. Most seem to even have multiple besides West Coast, GC and Giants…..

a question has to be asked to Pyke post fixture release just what we are asking for and what we got from that.

I understand we are a club that doesn’t need marquee games to sell out but players love playing stand alone on FTA national televised games. We need more for what we provide to the comp then ‘Sunday night shit slot to make our own’ and by the looks none of the good Sunday night slot before public holiday Mondays

Certainly don’t mind us not having any Thursday or Friday home games, they’re a bloody nightmare logistically.
17 other clubs jumping over themselves to get them for a reason……

Don’t think the reasons have to be listed.

The 1st Derby, Q Clash, Battle of the Bridge, Showdown of the year should always be in one of these time slots. Even more so if North vs Essendon can get in there

In 2024 we had zero Thursday night games and 1 Friday night game (vs Gold Coast in R22 which wasn’t a standalone match). All other matches were Saturday or Sunday

So it’s hardly a surprise that 2025 might be the same

Two reasons I can think of

1) We’re trash and don’t deserve marquee spots at the moment
2) Playing exclusively on Saturday/Sunday ensures we have no 5 day breaks which I suspect would be one of our requests

Personally, I have no real issue not being involved in marquee Thus/ Friday games as we certainly don't deserve it. When we were a marquee team we played plenty of prime time games over the years...
Hawks hardly had a Friday night game in 4 years till next year when they're back to prime time.
It's basic broadcasting/ marketing dollars, not conspiracy theory in this case.

At least 2 games and further training allowances at MCG for all non Vic clubs at a minimum w GF contract.
And a fixture with a few less flights for WA teams, including back to back interstate games- either QLD, NSW or Vic once or twice a season is a massive win.

Not sure how Essendon deserve all their prime time games then? Have been trash forever.

Gets better. 9 Sunday night games in the first 15 rounds and Eagles and Freo are slotted into 5 of them.

Wtf is happening.
So games will start at 410

You'd think it's likely to be played earlier in the season due to the weather and timezones. Not to mention probably around long weekends.
