So why is there an issue that we did it then if it’s always done?
To be fair to Kane, he always has a crack at teams doing this especially after a loss.

But he is also a big sook that believes in cracking a tantrum after a loss instead of showing some grace.

It would have been even worse if we didn't do it for Gunston and the narrative would have been the same as when Lever left that our club has no class.

Of all the things to get upset about over the weekend, this isn't one of them.

The rebuild was never going to be linear, but when our dumb fercucking club stays linear.. and that sturdy immovable line is actually a low-low limbo pole, well you end up exactly where we are.

What is certainly true, and unforgivable is that we are not building. We are not building or going forward
It's bordering on delusional arrogance to think the 1st 22 you can develop and pump games into will be good enough to win a Premiership.

One thing we've continually failed to do is rotate players in our 22 and continually look to get better. We've allowed the anchor of "continuity" to drag the team down for far too long.

I hate Karen Cornes the 5 minute fireman with every strand of my being - and yet I agree with him.
I was at the game and sat at that end. I watched all the players go to Gunston and give him slaps on the back and smile and laugh when he kicked his last goal.
When we lined up, I nearly vomited.

Gunston (to the AFC) is a traitorous, treacherous, sooky mumma's boy. We should despise him. To be all chummy and line up for him was just embarrassing.

This club is a joke. It starts at the very top and makes it's way through the entire club. A pathetic bunch of mediocre wannabe's.

Wonder what Kane Hinkley thought about Port leaving the ground instead of forming a guard of honor for Rory Sloanes forced retirement? Don't think that dog act even got a mention in the media.

From selection, to gameplan, to free passes for senior players to not challenging at the MRO to not whinging about umpiring to being too mentally f'd to do anything as soon as foot steps on the MCG and much more, this club is stuffed and yet in the past 48 hours there are a mountain of people defending the club.

Cucks not Crows.

Well, on those things, we are owned by the AFL right?

So there will never be any motivation for Collingwood-style evangelizing for the club.

Anyway, that's like #54 on the list of "evidence of how bad this competition is compromised".

We are a cooked football club.

Board, management, football department, coach, recruiter, list manager, players.

Tell me one area where you consider any one of these key pillars to be good and performing their role well. I don’t even think Burgess is producing the goods, sending out injured players doesn’t make much sense to me and we are doing it again this week with Dawson.

There really does seem to be a leadership void. For all our pot shots at Kochie, he takes on being the face of Port Adelaide and he demands excellence from his staff and players. We really dont have that person. Everyone just seems to operate on the sum of all parts. 'You do your job, i'll do mine.' But who on the board is sitting their over seeing this? Who is the one ensuring the standards the club demands is adhered to.

We just re employed a coach based on preventing hurty feelings about his contract through media pressure, based on nothing more than W-L ratio. Who is over seeing Nicks? Whats his KPI's? key in match statistics suggest he is failing on match day big time even when he wins.

I just think we are a club full of individuals.

Burgess would only provide his view, the coaches will still select players that he identifies as hampered. He was never going to cease that practice, experience and continuity are philosophical imperitaves at our club. A high end fitness boss isn't going to change that.

Surely if Burgess rules them unfit though he can’t pick them?

I'm not sure that's exactly it though. What I reckon we do, and it pre-dates even Pyke, is select the 26 or so that we think gets us the most amount of wins for the season. And it doesn't matter whether we reckon that's top 4 or 12th, we just keep cycling through those players to finish as high as we can, even when we know it's not going to qualify for finals. Improvement to the 26 then comes from draft and trade and the preseason, reset the 26 and go again. This is why selection strategy doesn't change regardless of whether it's a full rebuild or contending phase.

Given the fact that we are often coming back late in games, with the odd win - I'd say Burgess is one of the few things we've got right. He can't coach the side to crack in from the first bounce, but we do run out games very well.

How come players either end of their career like Rachelle & Tex are often asked about their OWN form (in the Media) but others like Smith, Laird, Murphy & Rob always avoid scrutiny.
probably because those 4 you mention have the personalities of a wet fart

Yep, it's an ingrained club philosophy.

Even ROB being dropped this week is probably more about giving him a lighter week ahead of the Swans game.
