Now we've officially hit the off-season.

Oh Simpsons non-sequiturs are really an all year round thing. Real off-season posting is daring to mention cricket/US sports in the general AFL discussion thread.

Feel a bit sorry for the Wiz with the spacing out of those marker hurdle things …… when Chol is striding through the same

Geez Weddle is looking like an absolute beast!

In the past I've made mild criticism that in the pre season it looked like the conditioning team were focusing too much on cardio as our players were really lean, almost too lean IMHO.

This pre season though the players look to have a better balance between muscle mass and endurance. I think having that couple of kilos extra size will be a big help when we play in the smaller ovals and in Winter (we can't play every game on a Sunny Saturday arvo at the MCG).

Like the reference to Meek moving well, he's going to be Uber important again next year.

Third year now at the club after a strong second year and turning 26 he's entering his prime years just as Worps is.
Also highlights where Weds is training a bit ……. beginning his runs from the HB line could have a license to roam and run hard all the way up to the forward line.

Why do I get the feeling The Wiz is the kind of character that most definitely did snort bags of Whiz Fizz back in Primary School?

As a nickname it’s on Brand 👌
I used to love Wizz Fizz as a kid. Then as an adult I would ride my bike past the Wizz Fizz factory in Fitzroy North while they still made it there and the smell was quite OTT. I've never had Wizz Fizz since.

Thankfully my year of driving past the Vegemite factory when the area was very pungent with a yeasty smell hasn't put me off the stuff.

I recently re-watched the Bulldogs game and despite them having 3 talls (Naughton, juh, Darcy) forward I rarely saw Weddle defending them or 3rd man up. He was just doing as he pleased and was doing well. Sicily, scrimshaw and frost held their talls.

Unlike against GWS we somehow ended up with Weddle vs Hogan a lot. I know they are very good at manipulating that situation to get matchups. While he could be a great defender locking down and rebounding (provided the matchup suits and he isn't against a super tall brute) he's so much more valuable running free.

If you have better running capacity than most of the comp, you need to use it to tire out opposition.

I can still remember making homemade whizz fizz from Icing Sugar, Bi Carbonate of Soda and Citric Acid. Was actually pretty close to the real thing as well.

I worked for Holden for 12 years so drove past the Kraft factory in fisherman’s bend every day. Now I’m in the UK would love to smell the yeast again!

Gotta love Moorey he looks like he didn’t have a break ……. has come back firing

Imagine how good he is going to be after an actual preseason.

Incredible how he had an AA year after glandular fever. Ruined many a player.

Nor did my three years of being a tasting panelist, with Vegemite as one of the main products! (one of the most fun jobs I've had, chatting about food and nothing/everything with 12 other people three to four times a week)

Also think we got pushed around in the midfield by some bigger bodied sides at times last year like Geelong x2 and the last quarter vs GWS in Canberra

Some bigger bodies going into next year and hopefully that changes

Went to a sports man night the other night and Will Day & Josh Weddle were the guests. Both outstanding young men. Both spoke well although Josh seemed a bit more of a natural speaker. Had a smile on his face the whole time. Was also great to get an insight into Will's grandfather Rob who played in the 71 flag.
Both are listed at 191cm on the club website. Did they appear to be very similar in height standing next to each other?
