I’m not sure it matters who we pick. For years we have played to the level of the opposition week in week out. Be it Richmond one week or Hawthorn the next. The players get comfortable with the flow of the game especially when they get in front but there is is no killer instinct to drive harder when things get easier or harder. They’ve been mollycoddled all their careers and it shows in the standard they seek to achieve which is mediocrity. Outside of beating up the Eagles who have been VFL team standard we’ve rarely thrashed sides. Bont/no Bont it doesn’t matter. We will play to the level and never aspire to go up a gear. I expect we’ll be in the game for periods only for another 3-4 goal loss.

Get him in and give him the kickouts please Vossy.

Yeah he's needed alright...

He takes possession, he looks ahead and assesses his options and then executes accordingly

and other players run into space to provide options for the ball carrier

so simple....

Imagine Boyd is straight in. For whom is the question.

Everyone knows who should be dropped.

They’ll probably pick on Cowan or Camporeale or Lord.
We don’t have great depth of players who are great kicks and can be effectively involved in transition plays without it breaking down.

Players like Boyd, Elijah and even Fantasia are the better kicks. Unfortunately all out atm for various reasons is hurting us. They will be very welcome inclusions in the coming weeks and could easily replace the likes of Haynes, Fogarty, Lucas or Cottrell.

Voss, assistants and Charlie need to embrace 1 of 2 concepts

Either he roams the 50, push up the ground and doubles back, etc

Or

Starts from the square, lead hard at the drop of the ball

I'm over the wrestling
Charlie always seems to be given permanent injury or fitness excuses.

Boyd in for Haynes
McKay in for Young

Kemp back. Silvagni forward.

I'd like to see some more changes (Docherty, Fogarty) but they just won't happen under the current match committee until the door is bashed down in the 2s.
They are more likely to drop Cowan and L. Campo.

From the injury list we should get a handful more back in to the 2s (Durdin, Monahan, O'Farrell and O'Keefe due back) and more game time into the kids that played last week to hopefully put some pressure on the 1s.

I am hoping it is just form and confidence stifling our game play but I have a feeling we aren't going to be coached to use the overlapping run and handball chains through the middle that most teams are going for this season.

Charlie will be better for the run last week.
It is a debacle we are sitting at 0-2 right now but the crap I'm seeing about him here and on socials is moronic.
He had 2 separate pre-season surgeries after finishing last year on one leg... If you thought he'd come in and dominate Barrass, Battle and Sicily on a wet night with our delivery to the forwards then I don't know what to tell you.

This is simply must win with the Dogs injury list.
Lose this going into the Collingwood game 0-3 and it has all the markers of a season implosion.

I'd hope no one would be giving up on Doc, or any of our players for that matter
Unfortunately there's been calls of immediate retirement and such.
He's obviously struggling, but I don't think he's ever been anywhere near as good in the middle as he was in the backline.
I'm honestly surprised we persisted with it for so long.
I love Doc, but I'm also happy to move past him if that's where the list is at. I'm also happy to give him a chance to prove himself again back in his old role.
We have to be ruthless, but we also have to give our players the best chance to succeed.

We need to base selection on fitness, speed and conversion
Boyd weiters cowan
Ohollands jsos Saad
Campo cripps walsh
Cottrel mckay motlop
Kemp curnow williams
Tdk cerra hewitt

Fogarty , lord, white, acres
Sub moir
In white, boyd, moir, curnow,
Out haynes, mcgovern, young, doc

He's too fumbly to trust him in the back line now...

That missed hb in the last quarter against the Tigers, case in point...

We'd all love for his footy story to end with a fairy tale but we have to face the facts... he's had too many injuries to recover his form at almost age 32... it's unfortunate, but he's a liability out there (and not on his own btw... plenty of others too)
