The criteria for 22 under 22 is actually "players must be aged 22 or under for the entire season (including finals)". So late birthdays like Brayshaw and Naughton would be eligible. Tom McCartin also is eligible.
From memory Bontempelli made the side 5 times due to being a late birthday also.
Zac bailey misses the cutoff by one day. Birthday the day before the grand final.

That was my laziness to be honest.. I just liked to get the discussion started. Went through footy wire and listed guys from each team with the age "21yrs x months"
Certainly changes ALOT getting guys who are 22 years and under. Naughton, Cerra, Butts, Petty, Spargo, Andrew Brayshaw, Quaynor, T.McCartin, Blakey, Balta, Stack all become eligible with that in mind.

Ginnivan and Quaynor must be locks for Collingwood at this stage. Daicos with his numbers should at least make the bench too.

For the Hawks these are the guys to consider:
Day, Newcombe, Grainger-Barras.
Newcombe the only one I would have in the team at this stage, Day needs an uninterrupted run at it but if he can get going I'd back him to make it.

For the Swans, I wouldn't include Rowbottom. I'd include Warner, Campbell and Blakey before him.
Tough indeed and a good side - you know it's strong when guys like JHF, Daicos and SDK (amongst others) can have the starts they have had and still not make it.
As a Hawthorn supporter, I would like to see Newcombe in there. Given it is based on 22 alone, I think he has out performed a couple - maybe just pick Serong as he is last named on the bench and has missed 25% of the season so far.
Still, good side and pretty much everyone these is deserving.
Yeah could easily slot Newcombe in there. Was debating him or Serong for that last spot bench. Great up and coming player.

Great side - I reckon Chapman is a must have - coaches votes in 3 games now and looking very impressive.
Some others are stiff (McCartin, McInerny, etc.) but they can't all fit.

McCartin may make AA Squad on form and walks into this squad as CHB or FB.
The only locks from Melbourne are Bowey and Jackson, but we have a lot of 22 and under players getting a regular game - Spargo, Petty, Jordon, Pickett, Sparrow and Rivers (+Toby Bedford who’s been medi-sub every game). Of the non-locks from Melbourne Petty would be the unluckiest to miss the team.

What's the cut off?
For example Dylan Moores birthday was the other day 7th July does that rule him out as a 23 year old because over half the season he has been 22. I think it should. but wheres the line like anyone born in 1999 is out? Or only those with birthdays before a certain date?

I pretty sure it’s turning 23 a day after grand final day hence why I believe Zac Bailey is ineligible.
