This is no pot shot at you Mick, but trusting the free hand of the market to deliver an appropriate value is misguided at best. History is littered with people or sports teams overpaying for a commodity. We figured and gave what we thought was an appropriate deal, only time will judge whether that was prudent or not.

James Frawley anyone?

As long as Pickering if forever banned from representing north player's again, at least that'll be a victory in itself.
Wells and Spud are under his management, probably a couple of others as well.

For non-sporting workplaces, $ is the only motivator. Clearly success is isn't his, so don't begrudge him that at all.

That being said, as the difference in contracts wasn't a 'too good to refuse' size gulf, I think it's clear he doesn't rate his own talent to get a better contract beyond the 3 years we would have given him.

If resentment towards the club has played a factor in him leaving, we're better of without him.
We don't know how big the difference was, and define too good to refuse. If the reports that the initial contract was a 1 year deal are correct, I don't blame him in the slightest. I don't think it's entirely the $ but it is no doubt a factor.

Lets assume the 350 DOESN'T include Super, which I have a feeling it does. And there's no other funny business (I can't imagine Collingwood will waste a cent on marketing money for Greenbacks).

A player on $350K takes home $208,000
A player on $400K takes home $234,000

That doesn't factor in the extra four weeks of annual leave Levi will have each September at Collingwood either.

Maybe he ****ing loves annual leave? I know I do.

I just want to know what happened to Levi in the off-season after he had 38 touches against Melbourne in the final round.

He should have had a ripper year after that instead of 3? years in the wilderness.

Getting those 50 undeserved games into so many players isn't helping so much now is it?

If accurate at the time of the initial offer, how is the club negligent?

I think he's definitely pissed abut copping the tough love treatment and it's been a factor.

Still whatever the reason, he's probably left the club worse for his departure and the club should factor this into where he ends up. Collingwood have 8 and a half days to come up with something reasonable and if not ship him to the highest bidder.

Didn't he have a reasonably serious ankle injury early in the season (maybe even pre-season)? Or was that the following year?

Or was it someone else?

Yep. Reckon there might have been a bit of this. Certainly his 'few words' spoken at Syd Barker medal that were posted on the North Melb App made no mention of Brad Scott or any Senior Assistants. Looked to be as good as gaaaaaaawwwn.

Because it was halfway through the season when he was probably leading the b n f... If that's just rumor then I think it's just a case of disagreement over his value to the club and cooling wood needing him more than we do. (thus paying overs)
