Nah mate, he doesn’t compete well enough in the ruck and doesn’t do enough around the ground to compensate for it. I would love him to make it, but I just don’t know how you play him in the ruck when his impact isn’t consistently good enough in there or as a key position when he doesn’t mark it.
maybe, or maybe it's a little unfair to say he doesn't do things "consistently" when n = 1? Plus he was playing number 1 solo ruck when Draper had the benefit of a 2-ruck setup for the most part.

I only saw the first half and I thought he was pretty good. At that point he was edging Moyle statistically across the board I think. May have been one or two hit outs down.

Could see why Scott has him behind Draper and Goldstein.

Still did some nice things but think back to Scott's playing days and what Keating did in finals, especially to less physical ruckmen like McKee and Fraser; must have made an impression on him. He'll want to see more physicality.

Hes avg in a lot of areas, his best skill is accumulation as a ruck and getting in good positions post ball up around congestion and probably the territory he can get from kicks

For his undersize (both height and kgs), he needs to be extremely athletic and have a great leap as a ruck - he does not

Fair enough, he consistently doesn’t mark it (neither does Draper for that matter) and consistently doesn’t show any physical presence. Better?

Jokes aside, I would like him to be given a chance to succeed so by all means if they can do it in a way that still puts team over individual then sure but I don’t think he will make it sadly. Would love to be proven wrong however.

Apparently he faded badly. Perhaps not surprising given he's not really had to be the team's primary ruck at AFL level and if he has it was a fair while ago. Something he may need to build towards that he needs more game time to do so, or he was up against a guy in a similar state of development and got pantsed?

If Bryan thinks he'd be a #1 ruck at any club in the league he's kidding himself.
you do know it was only posters on this site that wanted him to leave and become a#1 ruck at another club yeah? he’s not kidding himself about that

He has played 80% ruck in the VFL and he has had two even battles against Moyle so far. If it was against an established ruck you probably could question if he was ready to take on the full number one role but he was against another young up and coming ruck. I do not think he got pantsed personally but it showed where he development is at IMO . He did a few good things but I have been saying for ages that he simply lacks an ability to impose himself on the game physically and I think that is why Scott has not used him so far .

i agree and accept all of that except for loving to be proven wrong- i ****ing hate when that happens, as rare as it is for me

Great first half but 2 to 9 disposals in the second half.

For a accumulator ruck, still a fair bit off.

You can't have your around the ground work as your strength and have 2 touches in a half and no marks for the game. Does he lack endurance? Ability to help out the defence when other team on top?

glad he got a game but again Scott coaching decision and holding him in the 2s until no choice proved correct.

Think enough to work with as can put a good half together bit not a full game currently.

Also no great injustice if he plays 2 or leaves for more opportunities As due to ladder, currently we are more focused on winning then development and is a easy 3rd choice

Not sure he got smashed, it was 1 half each for similar impact. Draw. However, 2 disposals in a half is not good enough for a follow up ruckman as opposed to a physical intimdator type.

If he could string a full game together, would be pretty handy. Think the issue is not many 20 game young ruckman can play 4vquarters, so coaches look for effort and physicality, so at least a ruckman is still having a impact if not touching it disposal wise.

Yeah unfortunately did it for a half but struggled when suns dominated possession. When you need the ruck to get back take 1 or 2 marks or bail out kicks.

29 disposals in a half is pretty elite, I would’ve thought?

I never said smashed.:)
He should have been able to go with Moyle who he has had two very even 4 quarter battles in the last two VFL games they played against each other.
I have been strong for a while that he is still not actually physically ready.

He at least equaled the match up with moyle. Had 14 minutes less game time and had near identical stats.
