I have defended Parker on here throughout the season, but with the likes of Adams, Gus and Cleary on the sidelines, I have a feeling Parker will unfortunately go down the same path as our 2012 Norm Smith Medallist. Who comes to mind is Ryan O'Keefe - I am sure if Ryan O'Keefe knew he would be struggling for a spot in 2014, he would have requested a trade at the end of 2013. I have defended Parker on here throughout the season, but with the likes of Adams, Gus and Cleary on the sidelines, I have a feeling Parker will unfortunately go down the same path as our 2012 Norm Smith Medallist. This is sadly close to the reality of the situation.

I would be more than happy for him to stay (even if only so that he notched up his 300th in Swans colours) but the silver lining to his departure would be that his salary (which will be amongst our highest noting the time it was signed) will be off our books you'd imagine. The club should be able to either use that to improve the squad immediately, or restructure some contracts to give us more flexibility and room to sign players in the years moving forward (see Warner).

Well they can use it in different ways is my point. They could bring in another player on a big salary, offer Warner a huge upfront salary in year 1 or they could bring forward some money in contracts that are longer-term.

I would be more inclined to agree if it weren't for Adams. Why lose Parker but keept Adams? They're both old, but Parker is better and a club champion.

I can see only two possible answers (1) Parker's body is about to implode and the club knows and we don't. I see no evidence of this. (2) Failure of list management. I think that's the answer and I'm not happy about it.

I'd say that's not too far off but I reckon Adams' manager spoke to Sydney before Taylor spoke to Brodie. And that's the poor list management I suspect. "Poor" is harsh but losing Parker for the sake of Adams is a really poor outcome despite how valuable Adams has been this year. The move to Sydney may wind up having been a bad choice for Adams too, even if the Pies missed finals this year.

That's how I see it. Horse wanted extra experience and hardness, which in principle isn't a bad idea, but the reality hasn't turned out how it was meant to. IMO should have said no to Adams.
