Luke Parker
Luke Parker has plenty of football ahead and has already compiled a resume packed with impressive achievements. Since landing at the Sydney Swans via the 2010 AFL Draft, he has won a 2012 premiership medal, earned All Australian selection and won two Bob Skilton medals. In 2015, he was added to the club’s leadership group at the age of just 22, and has led the team as a co-captain alongside Josh Kennedy and Dane Rampe since 2019. While Parker is among the league’s elite midfielders, his strong marking and expert game awareness make him a genuine threat when rotating through the forward line.

Luke Parker

No thats more than we paid for Brodie Grundy, who was 3 years younger when he was traded

I'd honestly keep him if all we are getting are 4th rounders, having him play 300 for us is worth more than that.

Am I correct in thinking we will find out just how much this trade request was driven by us dumping Parker's salary, if at all?

E.g. if a club is pushing a player out as a salary dump, they are unlikely to be fussy over the terms of the trade, lest they risk the trade falling through?

Probably if it is only #44/F3 compared to like a #44 and F4 will be the slight difference you would be able to tell. But at the same time given how long and drawn out the trade period is its hard to tell if its just them haggling or other deals holding it up etc. TOO MUCH DEAD TIME imo

As I said before, split pick 44 to Richmond for pick 61 and 51. Give pick 61 and pick 62 to Swan. A fair trade. Now you have 2 picks instead of 1.

We won’t use either waste of time. Zilch point he’s contracted offer something fair

What does F3 and F4 mean?

But yeah agreed, the trade period is a snooze but I also kinda think the AFL sabotaged their own product when they started making sure clubs left a lot of deals til deadline day for clicks and ratings.

Future third rounder and future fourth rounder

The reason the Parker deal will get done and we won't hold him to his contract is, more than anything, because we want to do the right thing by Parker. He has been a great servant for a long time, he has been offered a deal 2 years longer than what we would give, and it suits us to let him go when we can't even promise him senior game time next year (let alone beyond that). The biggest loser if the deal isn't done is Parker. Of course, NMFC know that and are using it to their benefit. Fair enough. That's how it goes. Still think pick 44 is closer to the mark than a pick in the 60s.

It'll get done fairly amicably. I wouldn't even consider what's been going on this far as "posturing", rather just the way these negotiations go.

I'd be pretty confident that the Swans and Roos are pretty closely aligned on what will make the deal happen but wouldn't be surprised to see it meander along into next week.

24 is overs for him given his age. We'd have to float over our future picks on top for their 2nd rounder, won't do that though given our academy prospects next year.

Meeting in the middle at 44 seems like a fair deal.
