“It’s a massive privilege to follow him and he’s a champion of the club”

You can tell he's just genuinely stoked to be there. A little overawed being in front of the media perhaps but he just seems like the type that'll give 110% every single day.

Heard a whisper that Bice's kicking is a thing of beauty. Apparently the club is very impressed.

It is- would be near on our best kick more than likely

Doesn't get it enough...........
You don't tend to get much of it playing shut down on small forwards. I think Longmire did not like his defensive skills that is why he was sent back. I watched all the games we won & he was good. Very damaging. He really doesn't need to have 30 to hurt you and he kicks 60 metre passes. His ability to kick a goal from the left hand side from 50-60 is a WOW factor. I think he is a Small forward/Mid mix. I don't think he's a winger or a back. Wing is the hardest position on the ground to play. Often times you find yourself out of the play for long periods. Providing the outlet in the deep recesses of the boundary wings. Macca is so prolific because he plays more as an extra mid/defender than a true winger. He goes anywhere on the ground from FB to CHF. He doesn't normally go deep into the forward line. But everywhere else. Campbell was playing the wide winger role & he often got caught in no man's land. He is not the right player for a wing. I prefer Blakey, Macca, Gulden, Lloyd. I don't like Mills on a wing either, he is far too slow for the modern winger, players like Close etc that are super fast.

He played his junior footy as a forward/mid. He kicks goals. Why not play him in the positions he has played all his life?

No issue but can he play a block forward in the reserves first?

Think Jake LLoyd might need to start looking over his shoulder.....
Lloyd has not played back in most matches, except the GF which I am still baffled about, for most of the last two seasons. He has been up on a wing or in the centre square. I think if Bice comes in then he replaces one of the backs not one of the mids or wingers. So not Lloyd anymore. Somebody has to replace Parker too. Sheldrick is looking good.

I agree with you about the role you see for Bice v Paton but I see more chance of Cunningham being unavailable for selection than Bice quickly jumping to be top 2 out of Roberts, Fox, Florent, Lloyd and Campbell and himself (if I'm reading you right, which I suspect I'm not). I nominated Paton because he is already a seasoned AFL player who proved himself at the level and who only has to overcome injury (which he seems to have done) to put himself in the selection frame. The others have more to prove.
Harry is 31. Closer to the end than the start of his career. Probably got 1-2 more years left. He was sensational last season. He has really made that lockdown back on the small forwards his own position. There was a time 3 seasons ago that he looked cooked. His starts to the season were very underwhelming. But he went back to the reserves, found a new role and owned it. Hence, we need to replace Harry over the short term rather than longer term. Bice is a great pick up as not only does he lock down but he hurts on the way out.

Bice is a premiership player at VFL level. I like us to recruit players who have been a part of successful teams because they have a far different attitude. They crave success.
