you sound like a great close friend!

no it's not a guarantee he'll think differently, but i think a lot everything that's going on with him is ego based. threats to distribute images sounds like his ego is bruised and he wants to hurt them back. his latest post also seems like he simply cannot let it go, despite risking his career he still persists to respond to this woman/women.

It seems like he's been mixing with the wrong sort of women that know exactly how to push guys buttons. of course this isn't excusing his behaviour, i just think he's emotionally immature and his ego is bruised, not a typical woman beater.

of course i could be wrong, just my thoughts.
I agree with the bolded bit but dunno enough about the rest to say.

I used to mess around a bit with those things and know a few of people who took it alot more seriously.

Honestly it seems like he needs to grow up. I think a traditional initiation ceremony is probably gonna be as good as any amount of drugs to help him out. Lots of people would benefit from those, whatever their background. Remember what Moe said in that episode where they think Bart is gay and take him deer hunting to straighten him up? lol.

Well that would be cheaper than a trip to a Mexican desert, and I could catch a footy game after. Should I DM to make a booking?
Its been a long time since i've done anything like that. Honestly when you're young you think you can do anything and don't really understand how serious some things can get for some people. I've seen people genuinely lose it and never come back on that stuff.

that's true, hopefully that won't lead to poor adaptation of it, but I have a lot of faith in it as a first step. I've a keen interest in it's expansion.
my wife’s work has been heavily involved in the psychedelic therapy space. Though I’m not sure exactly how involved but a lot of research and what not. They are genuinely excited about where it goes to from here.

Restrictions on that ease midyear tho, as old mate said. About bloody time. Ridiculous that something with so much promise can take so long to be implemented, even to this minimal extent
I reckon its interesting how the TGA only made the move to reschedule MDMA and psilocybin after that Melbourne doctor took the Victorian Govt to court last year. The TGA had accepted his application to use MDMA as a therapeutic drug while it was Schedule 9 (same classification as heroin, cocaine, etc), but then Victorian Health bureaucrats over-ruled it. So he took them to court.

Then the TGA basically responded by telling the Victorian Health Dept "piss off, we're rescheduling this as Sked 8, a restricted therapeutic drug", taking the decision out of the bureaucrats and politicians hands entirely.

Turns out the fastest way to get revolutionary health care reform in this country is by getting the government to tell doctors they can't use their discretion about what's in their patients' best interests.

What? The allegations against him are horrid - no provocation warrants it.

How would you feel if someone said those things to your daughter/sister/wide
Almost certainly, you are correct, and there is no amount of provocation that justifies the response that Tarryn is alleged to have taken.

However, I am reminded of the situation when Dustin Martin was alleged to have held a chopstick at a woman's throat in a threatening manner. Surely nothing justifies that, right? Except that when police viewed the restaurant security camera tapes, it validated eyewitness accounts that Dusty endured extreme provocation over the course of quite some time. Police decided against pressing charges and Dusty ended up getting not much more than a kick up the arse from the club and the AFL.

But again, it seems extremely unlikely that Tarryn has been provoked to that same degree by multiple women.

Pretty obvious why Clarko isn't commenting on the TT situation, and good on him and the club for not giving the mouthbreathing section of the journalism fraternity any ammo.

Maybe I have a warped view on this because I watched too much of the Depp v Heard defamation case. The media assumed Depp was the drunken drug addicted wife abuser (and rapist). Nearly lost his whole life over it too. Disney dropped him like a sack of spuds like North might do with Tarryn.

Turns out the case proved Depp was just a d**khead drunk and drug addict who texted some real vile stuff about his wife. And Amber Heard was the real psycho bitch abuser.

The case proved to me that you can’t trust mainstream media to report the truth and you can’t pass judgement on someone without knowing all the facts.

Agree

That’s why im going to rely on the club to make the call on the best information it has ?

Viney didn’t sound too impressed by TT today.

Real key difference between the two scenarios is that With Depp and Heard it was just between the two of them. With TT it sometimes sounds like we're looking at double figure complainants, but at the very least it's more than a small handful.

Still, without seeing the evidence, with context, ourselves it's pretty hard to make definitive judgements. However... Viney coming out and saying that both the club and the providers of the courses TT was undertaking thought he wasn't doing well enough, AND the disastrous social media post from last night... well, at least for me, it's becomes hard to reign in suspicions and hold onto much sympathy.

Watching Clarko interview to get some info before the game about the game. Todd comes out first says what’s going with Tarryn then answers questions. Big Al comes out and first question says Todd had answered everything then they ask 5 more questions about Tarryn ,flipping mind boggling stupidity. Can’t understand why I have no time for most of them.

They knew what they were doing, hoping for Clarko to say something that could be spun together with his own drama to create a headline. It's pretty disappointing and he was clearly annoyed by it.

Yep. Doorstop journo’s are hardly Journos.

More like cheap labour backpackers hired to hang around & hold the microphone for the 10sec grab

2 or 12 does anyone really know? The club and the providers of the courses thought he wasn’t doing well enough? I interpret that as the AFL doesn’t like that it has blown up in the media again, so stand him down to appease the media…. I could be wrong.

I haven't got access to The Herald Sun but there is an article saying North face a 1mil payout over the Thomas saga.Surely if he has broken the law(if found guilty) then is contract is worthless.

hang on a sec, you're saying not to believe the mainstream media, now you're saying don't believe what the club directly states?

In short North Evil, save him other club:

North Melbourne could face a payout of up to $1 million if it cuts ties with troubled midfielder Tarryn Thomas as frustration mounts over his alleged behaviour towards women.

Thomas’ AFL career is at the crossroads as the league investigates fresh allegations he has sent threatening and intimidating text messages to a woman.

The club had already made a decision to stand Thomas down due to his lack of progress in a respect and responsibility counselling program, following separate claims from multiple women alleging Thomas had threatened them.

In particular, Kangaroos’ chief executive Jennifer Watt said Thomas’ failure to meet expectations in this area had triggered “a new plan to address his issues of accountability, remorse and behaviour change”.

It is the second time this year North has had to stand Thomas down due to his off-field behaviour despite the club’s strong efforts to help educate the man who turns 23 on Saturday.

It means the Roos will have to seriously consider parting ways with Thomas which could cost the club up to $1 million of his contract over the next two years.

It is understood Thomas is on about $500,000 for each of the 2023-24 seasons following a new deal in February last year when he was considered one of the club’s best young players.

Despite his behavioural concerns, the club would have to reach a financial agreement with Thomas if it terminated his contract, potentially allowing him to make a fresh start at a new club next year.

The AFL Players’ Association is satisfied with the way the Kangaroos have handled the matter regarding Thomas which included welcoming him back to the club and into the VFL team for practice matches earlier this month.

While the move raised eyebrows across the football industry, the Kangaroos received strong advice that his best chance of making meaningful changes in his life was part of a structured club environment.

But football manager Todd Viney said the club was concerned by the fresh allegations and was adamant Thomas had not made the progress expected of him in recent months.

“We’ve seen some improvement in some of the understanding and accountability around that program we put in place,” Viney said.

“Unfortunately, he is still not quite at the level (required) and that’s been our own observations but also the observations from the key providers of some of those services we’ve put in place.

“So Tarryn’s still got some work to be done in that area before he’s available to play for the football club.

“Second to that, we are aware of the new allegations that are against Tarryn.

“So this is a serious concern to us again, it’s with AFL integrity.

“With respect to and consideration to the victim of these allegations, we’re not at liberty to say too much around those details out of respect for her.”

Thomas was keen to re-ignite his career this year after a disappointing 2022 season, but will be forced to train away from the club while the Roos consider their next steps.

Viney said Thomas was not happy with the club’s decision to stand him down, again.

“I spent some time with him yesterday. He is disappointed,” Viney said.

“He thinks he has made some progress.

“So when we broke the news that we don’t think he is quite ready, he took it quite hard. We haven’t put a timeframe on it (stand down period).”

Coach Alastair Clarkson said he would leave the Thomas matter with other senior figures at the club as the Roos attempt to notch another upset win against Fremantle in Perth on Saturday night.

The Kangas won their first game under Clarkson over West Coast on Saturday at Marvel Stadium.

“It (Thomas matter) is in pretty good hands in terms of Todd and the club and it is in pretty good hands in terms of AFL integrity,” Clarkson said on Friday.
