I wouldn’t have viewed it as a distraction

I wouldn’t have put any time into him almost as a test to see how he goes 18 weeks to himself. See if he can finally figure it out himself and mature or do something stupid again

Then make a decision
Don't think this was feasible. Media would've roasted us for not acting strongly enough in response.

I thought the messages from all our executive team members were unusually blunt. It is clear that the club is fed up with TT after all the in hindsight wasted time and energy that was invested in him. I suspect that North had made up its mind to part ways with TT shortly after the AFL investigation of the complaint was announced. I don't think it would have mattered if the AFL suspension had been much shorter than 18 games.

I know we're not going to find out, but I'd love to know more details about the offending messages. As they included several threats towards the complainant, there can be no mitigating circumstances.

The most mind boggling thing is that he engaged in that behaviour whilst undertaking his rehab education course. He couldn't have made it clearer that he couldn't give a sh1t and that he was just ticking a few boxes to get back to playing footy. That should be a warning to all clubs that may consider recruiting him because it is clear that he isn't trustworthy. With that in mind I think it is almost comical that the AFL has made his return to football at any level conditional on having undertaken and/or be satisfactorily progressing with a behavioural change program that they have approved.

TT has taken a lot out of the club in terms of time, energy, resources and money without giving a great deal in return. I therefore don't want him to get another cent from North through a payout if that can be avoided.

The club has been good enough to offer ongoing medical and mental health support, as has the AFLPA, but I doubt TT will take them up on it. Perhaps Ben Williams can convince him otherwise because I think TT is at risk of spiralling out of control if he is isolated for too long without a support network.

Like a few others on BF, I hope that no other AFL club picks him up. They will risk female membership and offending their AFLW team if they do. I don't know if that is enough of a deterrent for a pragmatic decision to take a punt on TT on the cheap. Maybe some sponsors will speak out against it, which would probably have more impact.

We move on. There are no winners here, only losers.

Great move from the club.

No club will touch him next year. The blowback if he offended again would not be worth it.

He will need to show meaningful reform away from the AFL for a few years before he gets close to a rookie spot.

I hope for his sake he can turn things around. Past form indicates that the level of maturity required to do that is beyond him though.

Maybe it is time that we move forward. Forget about TT and all the distractions he has brought to the club, players and supporters. Brilliant footballer, when he applied himself. But off the field a total disaster. I would love to see this thread closed down and never here his name again.

All we would have been doing is abiding by the suspension that the afl deemed worthy

Nothing wrong with that

I think it’s pretty clear that we had him on his last chance, which he failed.

So about that username change…

PM Chief, mate. If you’re a paid up member of BF I think you get a freebie, otherwise I think he’ll fix you up for a little donation.

If nothing else I guess we now have an AFL Integrity Unit defined benchmark for AFL player behaviour in relation to DV and use of social media, the Tarryn Thomas Benchmark. Looking forward to clubs and the AFL applying the TTB consistently across the competition from now on 👍
Lets hope so.

If they couldn't (Tarryns), or wouldn't (JHFs), apply their talent consistently for us we lost nothing.
At least with JHF we got wardlaw in return

With tarryn we can’t even salvage a second rounder in return

At many points in his career would’ve been worth at least a top 10 pick
