It would be GREAT to see Boomer play as a permanent small forward from now on for the following reasons:

1. Makes it very difficult to tag him & his direct opponents would be VERY nervous going against him one-on-one.
2. Boomer is a terrific finisher, especially near goals.
3. LT can then be dropped OR given a chance in the midfield. Personally I don't think LT could play in the midfield because of his inability to keep his feet, but happy to give it a shot. Its not like our midfield is setting the world on fire anyway.
4. Puts the onus of responsibility onto the younger guys in the midfield to finally step up to help Wells & Swallow.

It ain't rocket science.

Fishy you are such an f*****g kidder  it's footy mate :footy:

Was kind of hoping he would get rubbed out for a week to be punished for his poor recent form and loss of temper. Anyway, he better come out and have a big one this week, i'm backing him.:thumbsu:

Now I'm only in my teens, so I grew up thinking Harvey is God and would have never noticed it anyway.

But was he really a diver?

One of the bigger challenges of his career coming up.

He swallows some pride and does what he needs to, he can play another two years.

He spits the dummy again, he won't be playing next year.

North Melbourne v Western Bulldogs @ Manuka.

He was openly ridiculed by all and sundry and had a shizen year after it. He learnt a lesson though, no staging in years.

??

Who do you rate higher. Everybody has been inconsistent this year.

McMahon
Thompson
Wells
Swallow
Thomas

All have been better. There are probably others as well.

Agree. I think we need to bite the bullet to some extent and force the move with him. What happened to playing off HB? What happened to a FP role? Surely he offers more danger than what Adams has been recently as a high HFF?

A few times. In fact two bad examples spring to mind and were well publicised. Copped an absolute pasting for it as well... funnily enough the media didn't jump over Nathan Buckley for similar acts.

Learnt his lesson though and has been better for it.

Make him the sub. If he chucks a hissy fit, seeya later. If he accepts it is what is best for him and the team, it will give him and us a new lease of life.

Can live with that too. Even as a rotating policy or as part of a plan to rest him regularly. We need to get him out of the guts if we want others to take the role on.

And for the next 2 or 3 years, could not get a free kick if he had been slugged with a baseball bat.

Also, maybe 4 or 5 years ago now, he over-reacted to Lynden Dunn giving him one ; but personally I didn't mind that, Dunn was (and is) a **** footballer who'd been niggling all day.

More recently, Boomer doesn't actually dive as such, but makes too much of an effort to ensure the umps see infringements off the ball, or jumper pulls when he's chasing the ball.......I don't know why he bothers, he isn't Judd or Gazza or an Eagles player, and he simply doesn't get those frees, so he'd be better off just trying to run his tagger off their legs, and keep chasing the ball.

We could probably argue that list all day - McMahon has hardly played, Thomas...

But lets just agree that Boomer is top 8 and is heavily tagged every game.

Therefore he's in. That's it. I do hope Scott adjusts his role this week though. No centre, no wing, no HBF. Forward all game.

You can argue that McMahon hasn't played enough to be considered which is fair enough. There is no argument with Thomas that has merit as far as I'm concerned. I'd be tempted to call him our most effective player so far this year.

Boomer is a legend. A ridiculously hard running player, elite finisher.

So he spat it a bit during a game where the team looked nothing like the North Melbourne he knew? I don't blame him.

For this to lead for people turning on the bloke who has played the most games ever in our jersey is pretty surprising. Like many have suggested, plonk him up forward if he's getting tagged out of it rather than just letting him get butchered.

Boomer and Thomas to swap roles? I think it could work. Would like to see Boomer kicking goals and Thomas winning one on ones all over the ground.

I like this but wouldn't want Thomas going to far into defence.

Thomas is to good a player to be dropped cause of his goal kicking yips. His posse averages are similar to most of our MUDs and that from a guy that plays forward.

KC, while I am in agreement with you regarding Boomer's status at this football club, I do see some issues with just plonking him in the forward line. The way the game is played today, keeping a bloke in the forward line who hasn't layed a tackle for 3 years, is fraught with danger, especially in a side that already struggles to keep the ball in the forward line.
