The big question I have is if Boomer is killed by a tag in the midfield why not push him into the forward line, give him a chance to be isolated one on one. Scoffs non existent moves rile me.

Yep. Top post.
Even if boomer is having an off day doent hurt if he kicks two or 3 from the pocket.
Dean did this numerous times. Paid off with a few win if i recall too.
Brads stubborness to want the game plan to work is childish.
We have no plan b or c.
I have faith in the club and Scott but he has a lot of work to do.

Needs to grow up.

Worries more about the umpires than actually chasing. Nothing wrong with working hard and having a bad day but i thought some of his efforts today were lacking.

Boomer has always been this way, its just that through out his career he's been damaging offensively. Defensively he's always been a liability, ive been raging at his efforts for longer than i can remember, then its all (almost all) forgotten when he links up play, runs a line, kicks that crucial goal.

Picken belts him every time.

Port don't have anyone to go with him.
Literally belts him yes!
He is a dog that Picken..punching Harvey in the nuts at the first centre bounce.
But yeah Boomers work rate is questionable when he has a hard tag on him.

Very dissapointing day today indeed..

FFS he had a bad game but get off his back.
A captain and premiership player, he has carried us for over a decade.
Today is a good example of what happens when he doesnt save the day.
No one else steps up.
Posters need to stop creating threads.
Bad day for the club but stop eating your own you idiots.

Good post Taz, Picken as much as I hate them (taggers) he is doing his job for the side and the mere fact they targeted Boomer says how little respect they have for the rest of our side. Most of our side looked flat today (is that the Western Australia jinx?? who knows) But todays loss will be penciled in as where we lost our chance for finals this year.
We just had too many passengers today!! Brad Scott looks at the numbers etc, contested possession, entries into forward 50 ....whatever he has to look at individual numbers now of players that aren´t stepping up, Wells; Zeibell; Yeah Harvey but again Picken playing on him saves his backside. The younger players are going to give us this inconsistency (Jmac;Cunnington;Wright;Atley) etc so Im not too bothered with them, theyre still in that bracket of less than 50-70 games so we just have to ride it out somewhat til they get over that hurdle. But these "older" players or should I say more "profiled" as Jack Zeibell is placed in this group as he was serious captain candidate. So I´m placing him there as one that needs to stand up he´s been very quiet 3 games now and Im affraid that isnt good enough. Wells been quiet all year and he too should be doing much more better. We have embarrassingly a full list of players to choose from and we´re not playing the footy we should, and now questions have to be answered. Why are we playing or serving up this soft brand or soft style of football.

Still had 23 possessions. He looked fed up today, but I can't blame him for looking that way. 34 years of age must be thinking f*** this. He's no certainty to bounce back against Port and either is the whole side. Today hurt the club.

Kane Cornes will be waiting for him next week and he shits all over Picken as a footballer.

Exactly, great post.

He can rove to our talls and is still an excellent mark for his size.

Crazy that the move didn't happen.

Yeh Harvey had a shocker but so did everyone else. Most of our players haven't even earnt the right to polish Boomers boots yet. Until they do then Harvey to me is beyond criticism. He has carried this side for over a decade now. If he gets pushed out in order to give more crap youngsters 'greater opportunities' or because he won't be around in 3 years time when our supposed premiership window will be open then we've just become another Melbourne or Richmond.
I can't believe Scott would leave him on Picken in the hustle and bustle of the middle for the whole day rather than try and expose Picken and his tagging tactics up the flanks or forward line.

Correct.

But in saying that, what did Scott do to bring Harvey into the game or at least mix things up?
Could have tried him deep forward, see if that helps snag a goal. Could have tried him off HBF to give us some run. But so far as I could see, didn't really try much other than hope things might improve.

Bit harsh on boomer i would say... he should'nt have to be the only one getting us out of strife every game.... others need to stand up.

If Picken played for North wed love him. If say Greenwood or Basti even Cunners had kept Boyd to 15 touches wed be lauding him a hero.
You said it in a nutshell. Boomer is still first tagged cause he is our most damaging player. Not Wells, Ziebell or Swallow.
I expect Wellsy and Jack to lead from the front next week.

bullshit thread....

300 game champion, did he have a shit one yeah and still 2nd most disposals...

whole team just shit really

embarrasing to be a north supporter the next few days.....

i was so upset i nearly shagged a ladyboy....:(

Yep, I agree :thumbsu:

For a long time Boomer has looked fantastic when we are winning, sometimes very poor when losing. Always been ordinary defensively, but thats normally forgotten with his outstanding offensive attributes.

Too early to write him off, but hopefully he realises ASAP that his job is to lead by example for a young team. He needs to pull his head in and start having an honest crack (just like many players in our team, Boomer is not alone).

Not a knee jerk reaction.....but the time is coming quicker than we expected.
Starting the game with the Red Vest on!!!

I think you mean green..

Starting a bloke with the red is suicidal.. Though in saying that, so is the way we play!
