The power lines are fairly obvious, no.
Luff and Reverse Market Indicator wanted Hollands (who wouldn’t?) Brady said we can’t afford a bust/don’t really need another HFF.
So we went with the less risky option who just happened to fill a big need (two-way defensive running with wheels and neat disposal).
I’m not sure there’s much more to read into it.
My preference was Hollands too.
So you want names but don’t want sources to be outed?
This sounds like a scenario which may play out at Primary School, possibly not in the real world.
Shock horror 18 year old body isn’t ready to play against men.. wait till he’s 21/22 before judging him.
He wasn't selected for a scratch match, well whoop de doo.
Which are still a reference point for a scratch match. He has as good a chance as any to play round 1, and if he doesn't again, not a big dealNo I was referring to Nobles comments and considering we were so incredibly weak in the midfield (and still below the rest) it's a very big statement imo.

What happened to Pykie, anyway? I just noticed the other day the cancelled accpunt.
There has been a few good posters fall by the wayside in recent memory.
B Tron, Pykie, kangaspurs, HH3.
Shame.

People thought paul Ahern was a monty to play round 1 after kicking 3 and having 25 in a scratch match and look how that worked out. Declan Watson a real mobile forward prospect. It's a scratch match, perhaps reading too much into nobles comments and Phillips non selection. You'd expect a gun mid junior to play in that scratch match. Well I did I guess.
All the rest did and Noble made it clear his omission wasn't due to injury.
Nothing more than that, I have never said we should have selected anyone else at the draft as that would be ridiculous.

I guess a large part can be put down to not playing a game of footy in 18 months.
They said Rowell looked off the pace in the Gold Coast vs Brisbane praccy match.
Powell had a full sanfl year and Lazaro at least played school footy.
Because at the end of the day, it's still a lottoVery fair comment. One I didn't consider.
As previous I wouldn't change the selection just why didn't draft "experts" say that to start with?

i reckon he plays against the hawks.I’m on record as being pro Phillips when I was convinced it was going to be Hollands or McDonald. I was ecstatic we took him.
I haven’t seen a second of training though so have no idea how he’s settled in. I do find it odd that we haven’t seen more of him in match sim footage and if you told me he wouldn’t be playing a praccy match that didn’t have Cunners, LDU, Anderson I’d be shocked.
I think one thing that really goes against him playing early is his lack of versatility. I did always think this would hinder him early but probably not to the extent of not playing. Luff said during the commentary he’d also been sick for a bit recently.
Also, everything that Scoobs says makes sense to me. Not sure why he had got any criticism at all. It seemed pretty likely to me that someone overruled the recruiters based on minimising risk. And I think that was the correct move given the other top picks.
All in all, without having seen any training, and everything I’ve heard, I’d still be taking him at pick 3 (2).
i reckon he plays against the hawks.
he wil have a chance to make the round 1 team.
its in his hands.
You level of comprehension is about primary school level. I’m not sure what part you don’t get and if you’re just taking the urine or if infact you’re an imbecile ?
I wanted to know who overruled. Who may have told Scooby I do not care about.
Great summary. This is it in a nutshell IMO.
Can’t you just be grateful you received a skerrick of information you wouldn’t have read in the papers?
I genuinely think people can't read. Or have other agendas to miss the point completely.
Phillips might become the best player of all time, who knows? Be great if he does!!
What I do know is I was told repeatedly he a straight up ready to go gun mid at AFL level from day 1.
That's not the case as Noble said - all I did was point out that clear inaccuracy, not that I'm disappointed in him personally, not at all, as I suspected wrong to start with.
Yes, but what then when it leads to unnecessary & unfounded criticisms of young players?
What could honestly be gained from such a comment? Can we hand the player back then pick again?
It's pointless, and especially ridiculous when it comes to an unsighted draftee.
