Re: 2nd 3Mobile Test Australia v West Indies @ Adelaide Oval (Fri - Tue)

Don't know about anyone else, but I'm getting sick and tired of Ponting's attitude when it comes to decisions against him.

Great batsman and all, but as a captain, he is too much of a try-hard. There's no 'man of steel' aura about him because he gets wound up by miniscule crap and it's written all over his face.

Instead of having a hissy-fit and carrying on like a brat, why doesn't he just accept it in good grace, like a good sport, and get on with the game?

That's what I liked about Tugga, yeah you could tell if he was pissed off, but he backed the guys around him, got on with it and ultimately reaped the fruition.

Siddle - Absolute lionheart, bowls all day hits the deck hard and was our 'accuracy man' before he struggled with his line during the Ashes. Has great potential to develop though, given he was late to the game and made his test debut on the back of a handfu of brutal shield performances and a few shoulder reconstructions. Essentially at 24 he is learing the art of fast bowling in the cauldron of test cricket, and when the Senior man (M) struggles, it seems to effect Siddle who probably then places too much pressure on himself.

People forget that Siddle is only 24 and has played very little First Class Cricket.

He's like Pharlap, tries his heart out, he's great - but, like a young batsman thrown into the side on potential (ie, Pup), he's struggling and needs to go back to the Domestic competition to work on his game. It's not a slight on the bloke, or a death sentence for his Test days, it's another step in his development.

I suspect Siddle is a tad over rated by the Victorian influence on this board. Plenty of improvement in him which is good but he has been average this series (possibly carrying injuries) and doesnt have much in the way of movement. I can see him being a good dependable bowler, McDermott like almost with an average of 28-32, but you cant see him developing into a really good bowler ala Mcgrath or Gillespie

Hilfenhaus was a bit average in South Africa, finding his feet, but since then he has been very good. Hopefully keeps the form up.

I so hope he is wrong but it sounds that way. Damn shame though, flat boring pitches in Perth are so bad for viewing it is not even funny. What is wrong with producing a Shield style wicket for tests? They easily go 4 days!

Even the OD wickets they produce have a tinge of green and old WACA bounce about them.

Think you are letting the batsmen off very lightly there, to suggest Johnson was responsible for us losing a test on his own, though it is hard to disagree with much else.

I have a doubt over Siddle's longevity given his injury history and he always seems to be carrying a niggle. I would prefer if they left him out of the pyjama cricket.

Johnson was extremely poor that second Ashes test and was one of the reasons we lost besides Ponting continually throwing him the ball and our batting collapse.

Agree with you on Siddle, should not be anywhere near limited overs cricket.

Yep and the ODD wickets batsman have cashed in..despite the pitch having bounce in it! Give the bowlers something, it makes for a better contest
