Effort was there from most players...but it's clear our skill level probably isn't up to it. Besides Tippett and Buddy their aren't really any players who want to THE man for the moment in front of goal, everyone else looks so unsure of themselves when lining up.
Carried a few too many passengers which was the difference, our leaders did what was required and then some to keep us in the game....a few players starting to form a reputation for being completely out of their depth in finals football.

Unfortunately, this was the game for us, we had to win.... Richmond would be a difficult test for us this week with the injury to Reid mounting things, if we somehow pass that, taking on the eagles and winning seems incredibly unlikely. Still live to fight another day and we'll see what happens.

i did think we were likely to get west coast.

have a feeling that we won't get through next week now. especially if buddy not playing

Absolutely delighted by our effort today. Still the tantalising "what if" factor given that we blew so many chances, but we look pretty good with some good players to come back in next week. Would've liked the week off and the home prelim, but we're not done and dusted yet.

In finals, you either win, or you lose, there's no respectable losses, no commendable losses, it's do, or die.

We won't be "doing" this finals series if we play like we did today and spray it all over the place. Not only we were diabolically shit in front of goal, our ball movement for at least half the game was a freaking embarrassment, with players turning it over for fun. Rampe spooning it straight to a Fremantle player for a goal, the Grundy pass, any number of **** ups that McGlynn was involved in, Rohan being unsighted for 90 of the 100 minutes, etc.

I'll post my views on everyone later but a toast for Adam too, he didn't do much chasing/defence but jeez he impacted a few contests and looked good in attack

Jetta had a pretty poor game, but there were lots of times where he was free on the wing and not used. I think the super intensity of the game meant a lot of the players got tunnel vision.

Jetta was unsighted. When we got on a roll in the 3rd he should have been the one breaking the lines hitting targets up forward. Sooooooooooo disappointing.

Today Tippett has become a Blood. He was an inspiration in the ruck in the last when he had every right to fizzle off.

I'm a strong believer of game continuity. That game gives us finals hardness & those that played poorly & are not given regular senior game time next year or do not have their contracts renewed will understand VERY clearly as to why.

Players are measured on their performance when the pressure is on. I won't mention those that don't cut the mustard but quite clearly, young Dean Towers definitely is worth persevering with. When the game was getting away from us & others went missing, Towers was getting important touches out there.

Anyway! The Bloods spirit is alive & well in some of our players!
those that don't get it will slowly disappear into the sunset.

Laidler is a beauty.

We will miss Shaw!

I have a great love for the man but today - he was mediocre and uninterested.

When he got the ball he hand balled. His kicking was ordinary. He just won't stand up and take the game on.

Look at the difference with a player like Jones who you could immediately tell was there to contribute.

you cant be serious...i cant believe you truly think that.

We travelled at about 46% efficiency for the better part of 3 qtrs.

We were playing two teams...Freo and ourselves. We won.

I'm proud we stuck at it if that's what you mean. I'm proud of how we kept fighting despite evey self inflicted wound. But honour? No for me.

Those getting stuck into the players saying we were junk etc are utterly clueless. Yes we kicked badly and that is bad footy but we smashed them everywhere else on the ground.
Our ball movement for the most part was great but in finals your rarely going to be fluid in the ball movement.
Some pretty embarrassing summations of the game.

Just makes such a difference. Goal kicking and composure would've meant a week's rest, home PF and a real shot at the flag, which the Swans would've been, rather than another tough final then another trip to Perth. Much easier beating the Eagles in Melbourne in October rather than in Perth in 2 weeks. Can be done though.

Just got accosted by some Freo clowns on they way out, I was wearing the premiership jersey so I just reminded them of their lack of silverware. Then they called Goodes a useless monkey, so make your own decisions

Log off, pal. It's tough enough dealing with a final loss without reading "supporters" lay the boot into our players.

Could have easily rolled over at any point. We didn't and there's no shame in being proud of that.
