Starc hits 35yo during the Indian Series. Going well now for sure but as your age it can hit quickly and suddenly.

Still would be at least a couple of years away English summer here probably his last or maybe one more, Johnson would be 31 then and he’s barely played red ball cricket anyway. Look can he play it sure but it’s hardly some forgone conclusion he’ll be successful in red ball cricket the white ball always swings and does more took Starc ages to be a good test bowler

Well done lads defended very well

Good bowling by the quicks and zamps class again

Inglis good bowling changes field placements

Still work to to do with the bat by overall going okay

Good captaincy EXCEPT the terrible call to not bowl Bartlett out and giving Maxwell an over was borderline brainless

Crowd last night was 31,563.

Fair to say you don't get that sort of crowd in Australia if its a game against a non sub-continent team in particular : India and Pakistan. Id also imagine playing against Bangladesh would draw a similar crowd- as there seems to be a large Bangladesh community in SYD. In terms of capacity filled by stadium, the SCG crowd did better than the GABBA crowd. Although Im not too sure about Pakistan population living in Brisbane is.

I also think if there ever was a T20 tri-series involving : Australia, India and Pakistan, and possibly Bangladesh (even though they are $hit) even without any advertising from Cricket Australia, it would hit the roofs. Even possibly an ODI series could work, would bring back the old glory days of houses filled at all stadiums around AUS.

bit surprising that after last nights performance that Spencer Johnson has the best T20I figures by an Australian fast bowler

One senses the Brisbane Heat if they get Xavier Bartlett and Spencer in their lineup for most fixtures this season, they will be a tough nut to crack for opposition teams.

If I stand to be corrected Spencer had a good game in the Grand Final here a couple of seasons back in the BBL against the Sydney Sixers.

We should have lost last night, really.

Our blistering start to the game was the difference in the end.

Pakistan opted to try and oodle it around and then accelerate, T20 is a game about momentum. We gave them back that momentum when Maxwell and Stoinis came on for a trundle. Babar Azam has a bit to answer for, trying to flick one off the hip for 6 when you've barely got a feel for the wicket, that hurt them a lot.

Then Irfan Khan comes out after going at a run a ball and starts flaying them into the stands, the damage was done, he was batting with the tail.

As a Heat fan, the issue will be the batting.

We lost Josh Brown, he was a point of difference at the top there.

If we consistently get to 160 or so, we'll be hard to beat.

Spencer Johnson does indeed bowl well at the SCG. He was Player of the match there last season.

Time flies by and I have vague memories of that game.

Rizwan is a terrible T20 bat and I’m not having a bar of it.

Take that innings away and Pakistan had a real shot.

Um, yeah, he averages 47 in over 100 t20 internationals in the most unstable team in the world.

‘Terrible’ is probably not the adjective I would use to describe him as a t20 batsman. Even if you point towards his strike rate which is in the mid-120s, every side needs and depends on having at least one player to play that role. To have one who does it with an average of almost 50 is a rarity.

Adelaide Oval pre redevelopment always had a good atmosphere. Will only be like that for England/India games now.

Fox are saying they sold out all public tickets, so members allocation is something like 12k these days (minus a few seat blocks for sightscreens)?
That sounds about right. This article mentions about the breakdown in types of membership : Platinum and Gold. Ive attended an ODI World Cup semi-final at the SCG in 2015 (before it was developed) and that was a far bigger crowd 42k from memory. It seemed to me the sections where it was empty was the Noble Stand and Bradman Stand. (i think these sections are members stand, someone may want to correct me here). Members Pavilion/Ladies Pavilion was about 90% full. That number sound about right given capacity of SCG is around 45-46k, in terms of members being 12k.

Article mentions about 9% platinum: 33% gold members: 58% standard. Looking at the stands yesterday, the ladies stand was pretty much full and the members too.

I queried about getting a gold membership a few years ago. There is apparent waiting list and he told me that if you put forward a $5k deposit- there was a likelihood of getting fastracked, not sure if thats true or not.

I thing I misjudged about yesterday, was I thought I could rock up about half an hour to the game and would get a seat. Next time for those big games, I probably needed to give myself 2 hours, even the ticket did say entrance would be open 1.5 hours before the game. I have regularly attended BBL games at SCG in the past but yeah its a unique atmosphere when you have a fired up Pakistan crowd singing and roaring.
