SMith makes an obvious effort to go out the front put on a mic and listen to nine when the dec is looming but it's tin foil hat stuff to think it could possibly in any way then influence how he thinks?

Why go to all that effort if what 9 says means not a thing to him?

I've got to say, I'm completely against this idea of the players listening into the commentary and then becoming a part of the "banter" with the morons in the box. Don't like it.

Agreed.

Very cringey

Australian TV sports callers are generally a bunch of ego-driven w***ers these days

well regardless, i don't think Smith is being influenced. if he was, he would have declared by now.

Even if it did have no impact on him the whole thing just seems really weird and unprofessional to me, who knows maybe it's just a generational thing i guess if you grew up watching people like AB in charge this sort of over the top lovefest with the comms just doesn't sit right.

Just bat all day if we can. We are 1-0 up in a 3 test series and hold the trophy.

Wild card pink ball giggle fest coming up could be anyones game. Why would we bother pushing for a win?

In the same situation in an ashes series we wouldn't even dream of declaring

Hit out for 5 more overs. Get the lead to 330.

Get them in, set a heavy off side field and hang the ball outside off moving away. If they want to have a crack then go for it. Gives us a shot at getting a few before tea then it can become interesting. They aren't going to get 330+ from 50 overs

You do have the advantage of complete field control. But on this deck I don't think it's a foregone conclusion.

I wonder whether New Zealand would be tempted to have McCallum open the batting and try and turn it into a one day run chase?
If it fails and they lose early wickets then just shut up shop and play defensive...

Exact reason why we shouldn't declare nothing in it for us.
