3 cumulative reasons why Swans won't win the flag...

- I wonder what Hawks fans be saying as to the reason they haven't beaten the Cats since the granny - all in the head perhaps, mental edge?
- They got smashed by Adelaide and Sydney in the past two, and now smash the Lions - really a turn around?
- Yes our record is craphouse at the 'G, but how many times a year do we actually get a run there?

The Eagles have had their entire forward line missing in recent weeks including most of it against the Swans. The Hawks just haven't been good enough in recent years, their recent form suggests my mob might be in trouble on Friday night? I am philosophical about it, the Cats have been terrific this year considering who has retired, who is injured and who has made their debuts. The Swans get to play all 3 experienced, powerhouse sides in the coming 5 weeks before finals time. They can answer the question themselves...if they are good enough!

I think the two Swans threads are getting mixed up, its not often that the Swans have two threads on the main board.. this thread is about the 3 given reasons we won't win the flag.

what players have hawthorn , geelong and wce added to their squad since the start of the year ??
Do you have any idea about how football teams operate? Geelong have debuted many players this year due to retirements and injuries, Sheringham, Stringer, Murdoch, Smedts, Guthrie, Horlin- Smith plus a few others have played this year. Training comes into it, the H&A season is just qualifying rounds, teams are pacing themselves throughout the year in an effort to begin peaking by August 1st. (Maybe the Hawks have gone too early?) They taper off training about mid July and work solely on the game plan after having played most teams at least once. Geelong have lost a few close ones this year, last year they won those, 2 more wins this year and they would be equal 2nd right now! The idea is to be ready for September, of course you have to make it there first, i am under no illusion that my team is not out of the woods yet as far as a top 8 position goes. However if they do make it they will be the cause of some sleepless nights for some. It's all about list management these days and team balance, who knows if the return of Buddy Franklin might un- balance the Hawks line up currently?
I have no idea how the Swans will go playing at the MCG this year, our only guide will be when they play the big 3 in coming weeks and no matter where those games are played, if they win those games that will leave us with some indication of their abilities to repeat that again in September. They might shock us all and clean up all of them? The Swans haven't proven a thing yet, Geelong, Hawthorn and Collingwood have all won Premierships in the past 4 years. 2005 is long gone, the Swans have a better team this year and they just might win the flag after all. It will be a fantastic effort if they do, it is now the business end of the season, are the Swans ready for the ultimate test?

We certainly won't beat Carlton at the G this year in September. End of story.

What a horrendous post.

Wins at the MCG in 2012: 0/1
Wins at the MCG in 2011: 0/4
Wins at the MCG in 2010: 0/4

See a trend?

But yeah, make it about Carlton. So Insecure.

So taking the piss out of Carlton fan makes me insecure? Means about 90% of BF posters are insecure then...

Yeah, because past records are the absolute arbiter of whether a team wins or loses isn't it? Ergo, Hawks have no chance this Friday against Geelong do they Captain Obvious? Swans may as well just not turn up because some BF nuffnuff says we don't have a chance. End of story eh.

There should be a eye rolling emoticon. It's not at all out there to think that a team that has lost 14 of their past 15 games at a ground against mostly middling to poor opposition would stuggle to perform there come finals time against the top teams in the AFL.

Who the ***K are the big 3 ? This is season 2012 and last year the year before that and the year before that count for ***K ALL. We are currently on top with Hawks 2nd and Crows 3rd. That is the Big 3. Stop living in the past because Geelong are no longer in the BIG 3 !!!!

We are one of the top teams in the AFL this year, as difficult as it appears for you to accept. I believe the Swans are good enough to win there, if they play their best. The records are meaningless once the ball is bounced.

There should be an emoticon for sad people whose team was touted as flag favorites in March but are now in the bottom half of the ladder.

Come back when you know something about football and stop prattling on like a child. Get with the program, you're team is mingling with the big boys now, when the Swans knock off all 3 BIG teams before the end of the season you may return to me with a valid argument for their possible success come September, currently you sound like a Stewie Griffin complaint about Lois "Isn't it funny how they say life is like a box of chocolates"? "well in your case ,dear mother, life is like a box of active grenades" Dispel the anger with results and you have an argument, currently all you have is an anger management issue! Geelong don't have to prove a thing to you, their results are already on the board, ignore them this year at your peril. The Swans will have their opportunity to put Geelong out of the finals race in the last round of the season, until then keep your dummy in your mouth!

We can act and say whatever we want. We have been playing with the "big boys" for years and some might say we are one of the big boys these days. I mean only twice in the last decade and a bit have we missed out playing finals and in one of those years we filled our list with the current crop we have now.

We are one of the big boys if you like or not.

Now save your time and please refrain from posting more rubbish, capish sunshine?

Oh, so you just mean the Pies then? Given we've already beaten the Hawks and your mob.

Also, lol @ Geelong fans considering themselves a "BIG" team.

This thread is bound to provide the lulz for months to come, if Swans bomb out in September it will be epic, if Swans win it will be just as epic. At least there will be some entertainment over the pre-season.

Ha Ha Tas. To True. If Swans can reach a prelim they have done well and improved to a level they should of after the last couple of finals campaigns bowing out second week.
Anything less is a fail but to be honest i for one am not expecting anything more than that. Still got to finish top 4 before any of that anyway. To reach a prelim and give a good account would be a bonus to reach a GF
slightly unexpected. Realist i am unlike others who have a fair bit of action going on under the doona at night fantasizing over past glories.

All you can ask is for your team to have a crack, you might roll up in the finals against teams that are red hot on the day, I don't think it would diminish what was achieved. Swans have had a great season to date.

There are more threads started on the main forum because people know opposition supporters will bite than there are threads bringing up good topics for debate. I think if you go too hard to fly the flag you can get sucked into what they want and that is getting people fighting in mega drama threads. I guess it gives us something to do during coffee breaks. :p
