I like it. We have all stresed out re the injury aspect to him being in the ruck but not sure if that's even really a thing. On the plus side however it gets him involved which will lift his confidence and with his ground level game/ tackling he is like another mid.

Yes Nathan Thompson used to talk about the importance of having a brief run in the ruck if the ball wasn't coming down or if he wasn't clunking his marks. Just good to switch thing up and get involved in the game.

Is he a forward or a ruck-forward?

He looked bloody good around the ball

Early days but we may be better off getting a ~195cm size KPF to pair Larkey and have Chom mixing it up a bit.
I loved his game working up the wing. I think it gives him a license to deploy his strong, aggressive defensive game.

If he's sorted that problem out then he's fine. He's tough as.

I wouldn't have even thought of it before watching him play on the weekend but there plenty of times he played like a mid.

Don’t post much, in fear of being hounded down on here, but I must say I’ve been praying for this kid for a few years now, that he can get it together.
He probably won’t make the dizzying heights of these 2, but for me he’s Carey’s straight line aggression and Corey’s sometimes awkward/unco vertical leap and athleticism.
Once he puts on a few more kgs, he’ll control the air more comfortably and take more grabs. He has such an intensity about him, he’s still hitting the footy with hard hands.
I really hope he doesn’t kill someone, it’d be a shame to lose him for a few weeks.
Losing X was a blow for us, but a blessing for Chom, it meant he was thrust into the game, without the reliance on forward entries and you could actually see him grow in confidence as the game progressed.
There’s going to be a game this season, where he is going to destroy the opposition, both physically and on the scoreboard.
Rant over…see you all again next season!

You should post more often. Nailed it.

He is and will continue to be exciting. Those injury setbacks really in seem to have fuelled his desire to make it at all costs. He's playing that way and it seems like it will be sustainable.

Once he and Larkey get comfortable together, we will be a force to be reckoned with.

His athleticism is his best attribute. I wonder, if we paused to think for a while, if there are many players, if any, in the league with his combination of height, speed and aggression.

When Xerri went down and l saw Charlie going to into the ruck l thought 'Oh NOOO!!' only because l feared he's going to get some stupid knock and he'll be out for the season ...hopefully the injury tide has turned as he got through his 3rd game in AFL unscathed!!
Loved his work and what l was most surprise was how ease he can nonchalantly dropped a long bomb of few steps in that dying seconds of the last when he received the last free kick.

I learnt yesterday that 1 ruckman + Chom is the way forward. It gives him an opportunity to get up the ground and into the game.

So much to like about his performance. So pleasing to see such an impact from a young key and not need to be off the back of a bag of goals. I have no doubt a 4+ game will come, but he brings so much more then just that.

So excited to see what we have in 50-100 games.

The other bloke who deserves a medal is Greenwood; thought his ruck efforts at the stoppages was a really professional performance, hand up for the team and get on with it. The Chom-Greenwood combo was such that when WC were trying to win it in the dying stages, Simpson basically gave up trying to take advantage of what should have been their edge in the ruck by having Sheed take the centre bounces

Someone like Ben King with one of our early picks this year perhaps?

He was immense.
