Here is Ross the Boss. Interestingly moved sides of the field a bit.

I was saying in comparison to opponents heat map. Compare the two and play spot the difference as it's an easy thing to do as it's taught to 3yo.

They are playing to two different game plans and two different sets of instructions. I would bet you London to a brick the Match Committee has not tasked McIntosh with beating or stopping Langdon as his main or only objective. He has been told to get to our attacking goal square to provide an aerial option as often as possible.

Sorry not this again as i then go back to my original point that he failed in his role. If you're right in what you're conjuring up then the MC needs sacking. lol

No the colour intensity tells you as you stated the frequency of the in this position. The heat map we are given is a colour representation of his location and not a linear or curved motion map. They could give us the data like this, but it would look ugly and messy. They can generate hundreds of thousands bits of data from GPS maps , but this is the simplest and most effective one given to us. FD use others that we don't see and get statistical information on individual players. You're simplifying it too much by saying running in circles. It's more of time in that area and a player can overlap that area countless times in the one game so rather than linear representation they use colour intensity. As they know a players distance travelled from the first bounce they then obviously can generate the exact position he was at anytime during the game. It's all about location location HH.

I still don't agree TI, you getting all your info on heat maps from Soccer, which are used differently...

You are basically saying Kmac spent 100% of his time (and 15kms worth) in two small spots on the ground, which is incorrect.

No that's how you're interpreting it . Clearly it's where he spent the majority of his times in and you can see he did operate between these points.
He spent 80%of his time in the offensive half HH. He had four of his 10 possessions in the forward fifty. So what can't you understand?
They all work on GPS systems whether soccer or AFL as there's no other way to collect the data lol. The beauty of it all it also has a second variable in time which then opens up thousands of other important information regarding a player as you can then calculate velocities, accelerations ,breaking and impacting forces etc etc.
You would've noticed now we are getting more of these physical kinematics on players in terms of fastest sprints etc.
I discussed this regularly with a RFC staff member who implemented all of these tracking devices on our VFL players during 2017 to 19 and we talked about their uses and it was all location based.
The most fascinating discussion we had was about catching a player napping. Lets say player X gets the ball at 3:48:16pm, and kicks a goal at 3:48:19pm and you don't see his opponent in the frame. You then go later and see the exact coordinates of his opponent at those times and this indicates the whole picture and then education and knowledge comes from it.

He’s 6 “4” 92 kg. Ran his guts out to get into the goal square all day.
The next wingman that gets ask to do that wont get it too many times either.

If the role on the wing changes to “ roam and go get it 30 times “ then he will get first crack and if he can’t do it he will be replaced.
What, the role of the wingman is to get to the goal square all day, since when.
A week ago his strength was getting back to help in defence.

Langdon was involved in so much transition play he was easily better. McCluggage was likewise brilliant on him and was close to best on.
Josh Daicos plays on the wing and he has been great. Isaac Smith has been damaging all his career.

The role of the wingman is to cover ground, and MacIntosh is great at that, but he could get more involved in transition, an equally important role for a wingman.

Ross has been easily a better player than mac this season, he got it 27 times last week. He also go to the goal square on the weekend and created a goal.

I'm not bagging MacIntosh, he has been great for us and is still doing okay. Just giving an opinion that we might have to do something new to inject something different into the team. I wouldn't mind seeing Mansell have a crack. Banks or Short. Maybe Brown from the ressies. Give Mac the subs vest for a week and get him on when others are starting to run out of legs.

I'm pretty sure the game plan was to follow Langdon down there, Melbourne often use him a bail out or switch in a back pocket because the oppo wingmen doesn't follow him. It had one impact with Kmac kicking two goals, but Langdon still won the overall battle out on the wing
Two goals is better than expect or plan.
With Langdon getting plenty and the ball being in Kmac's area plenty, two tackles is disappoint.

And there is Kmac in a nutshell. Those legs looked very heavy when the game was on the line. No real run down to create stoppages. A lot of futile chase.

Yep he has slowed down dramatically he might still cover the same amount of ground but it's at a much slower pace imo.
he doesn't have that burst pace anymore look at his debut game v Carlton.

Skip to 4:40 it's pretty poor quality but you get the point.

Decent game?
Lined up on Langdon for most the game.

Lets compare the pair...

Disposals
Langdon 25
Mcintosh 10

Marks
Langdon 7
Mcintosh 3

Score involvements
Langdon 4
Mcintosh 2 (so his only score involvements all game were his two goals)

Metres Gained
Langdon 364m
Mcintosh 122m

Tackles
Langdon 5
Mcintosh 2

Inside 50s
Langdon 3
Mcintosh 2

Rebound 50s
Langdon 2
Mcintosh 0

I’d say Kmac lines up against Hunter more than he does Langdon.

Ist quarter starts on Hunter and then when rotations on the bench happen later in the quarter he finishes on Langdon.

2nd Quarter same sort of thing . Starts on Hunter and then when bench rotations happen he ends up on Langdon’s wing.

3rd Quarter starts on Langdon and then when rotations happen ends up in Hunters wing.

4th Starts on Hunter and then with about 8 mins to go ends up on Langdons wing .

Can’t tell you who was on him when he kicked his goals.

BB I give credit where it’s due and I don’t work on childish IFS . I make my judgement on Kmac or any others output not on one game , but as an overall assessment of the season. He with JGTI have underperformed and offer nothing now or long term.
nah, you’re a hater, pure and simple when it come to Macca

This is the point though GRRR, we need to improve to be able to continue to compete with the bestr sides, or what's the point.

KMac hasn't improved, in fact he has gone backwards from 2020 (as have others mind you). So if he's not improving, and we are not competing to win the flag, him playing his "role" isn't having the impact it used to, what is he still doing there???

I love Kmac, I love what he brought in our top end years, but I am also not blinded by those years a "2 time premiership player" to realise, hius current form this season has not been to standard, and if we don't improve on players like Kmac, we won't climb back up the ladder... it's pretty simple.

People around here think if you call out that a player isn't up to scratch at the moment, it automatically means you don't respect them as a premiership player, or "you don't know their role", they're s**t and easy lines to roll out. You can love and respect a player, and what they have done for the club, but still be mature enough to understand their form doesn't warrant selection.
What?you know his role? Are you Dimma or Mini?

The tracker doesn't show you were you run, it shows you were you get your possessions.

The more possessions you get in an area the more the colour changes , green none, yellow a few, red a lot (in comparison to your overall total I think)

It's a good indication, but if it tracked where you run, the player with the most km's on the ground would have a heat map with the most colour on in, Kmac's proves that's not the case.

So his tracker doesn't prove where he ran, or how much he ran, it just shows you where he touched the ball.
Of course TI disagrees, just doesn’t suit the narrative

Langdon played on Ross and the interchange guys more than Kmac.

You don’t think it was the old “ if you are 6 “ 4” take your player deep into forward line where it becomes a critical marking situation. ?
You’d back KMac in a marking contest over Hunter and the other bloke.

I’m sure they are looking at how they are going to use the wings all the time. He’s been dropped before.

Ross has squeezed into the 22 and players coming back put pressure on everybody especially if things are going pair shape.
Because of the size of Kmac he probably has a bit of an edge on the others in that he gives the coaches a few more options on game day.

He might end up as a goal kicking option. He’s been sneaking down there a bit lately.

No that’s your narrative as I just look at performance and long term future for the club due to his drop off. I love KMac as he’ll always be a Tiger legend for playing in two flags , just as I will love JC for playing in three, but this is not the issue here and some of us think a lot more deeper than you without personal remarks.

Of course TI disagrees, just doesn’t suit the narrative
After numerous posts of explaining heat maps you come up with this. What narrative was I running other than explaining the generation and function of heat maps? Do you actually know how they work? By the way don’t say they’re possessions related as the possessions are marked with spots where exact coordinates can be located and the time the player gathered them. I need to know your narrative and knowledge regarding them. Meh.
