I jsut told my Collingwood mate and he cant stop laughing, saying we got ripped off with pick 96.

Oh dear Kangaroos... We love trading for the real dud players.

So LeFtBehinD's Collingwood mate is the authority on trades made with picks in the high-90s?

Great, another bloke who can't kick

Its amazing how someone makes a comment and it becomes gospel

Lets give the kid a go - he is one of us now!

Re: Roos get Ben Davies

"Look it's really up to Jade and mark what they do, yeah nah."

"Look......We as a football club are delighted to have kept Leigh Brown. He can play back or forward, and look..he can kick it on both sides very well.

This trade week wasn't about Dean Laidley, it was about using our resources efficiently and focusing our efforts on keeping Leigh at the club. Yeh, nah, yeh the coach is happy."

This is important because we couldnt have risked this kid being availkable in the PSD.
pick 96 doesnt really matter. Its like pick 1 of the psd anyway.

Hey I usually put my thoughts on a player who gets picked up by another team through a trade or other means.

He is a mid-sized midfielder. The problem with him is he is stuck between being an outside mid and a inside mid. Not good enough (or strong enough) to consistently win clearances and get the ball out of tight spots despite the fact that he is pretty tough. Not smart enough to know where the ball is so can't be a link player who accumulates the ball. He has very erratic skills and just doesn't know where to run to receive the ball so he's not a great outside midfielder/flanker/winger.

Strengths:
- He is quick without being too agile/evasive.
- Pretty courageous. Will put his head over the ball and fly for big marks where you wouldn't expect him too
- not afraid to do dirty work inside the packs
- can play a variety of roles. If you ask him to be accountable he will
- great endurance will run all day

Weaknesses
- poor kicking. Mostly because of his poor decision making on the run.
- just not naturally footy smart enough to know where to run, how to time his runs etc. For example in an attempt to run in support with a player he will often cut off their space. He is quite poor in his awareness of these situations. For Willy once he was running alongside Egan who was in heaps of space, Egan saw Davies on the inside and slowed down to draw an opposition player close to him, and went inside to handball it to Davies but he wasn't aware of what was going on and was running well ahead of his teammate and for some reason ran inside closer to Egan.
- 1 on 1s aren't his strength, but it's nothing to be too worried about, he obviously won't be a back pocket player.

His problem mainly is that he isn't well versed enough in one area to overcome his weaknesses. A jack of all trades master of none. Could he make it at AFL level and where would his best position be? I reckon in the midfield/wing, tagging is a position we haven't really tried him in. If you give him that responsibility he may very well rise to the challenge. He is certainly dedicated enough to make it, I wouldn't be surprised if he does player a further 50-100 games at AFL level, but more than likely he won't get over 10 more games.

For those who don't know, or those who want to, Davies is the guy who ripped it up against us in the the match where Thommo did his muscle flex, and in the end, created the turnover that probably won us the match. Might be an idea if Deano goes on holiday during trade week.

Why is everyone so negative about this trade? We almost certainly wouldn't have used pick 96 anyway... it's the same thing as picking the kid up in the pre-season draft.

He mightn't make it, but it isn't as if we've given anything up.

It's not the draft pick. It's the spot on our list.
