I think you've overrated Weller by a mile. Might be good, but a 1st rounder would be enough for him. Why give them Black for nothing!
Weller went for Pick 13 in last years draft, so Black and our 2nd sounds like it might be a bit short and they won't take pick 15 for someone they took at 13 only a year ago.

Black's trade value is pretty low at the moment. A club would be paying on his potential to get back to where he was and not where he is.

If as rumoured we are moving on Basti for a 2nd Rounder, then maybe Black and the 2nd Rounder we pick up for Basti might be closer to the mark?

i may be missing something here but why would freo want to move Weller on anyway?
I don't think they will want to move him on?

It's more like other clubs might be coming to them to see if Freo would be interested? I'm sure if Freo were interested in Black our List Management Team would be asking the question of wether Weller would be gettable as part of a trade.

Robbie Tarrant - we've stuck with him through numerous injuries, he was drafted 2 years before Black and up until the start of 2015 they had similar amounts of games under their belt. He toiled away at his craft in the VFL, putting his hand up for any task. He was ultimately rewarded, and now if fit is a certain starter.

Aaron gets gifted 3 games based off of something we saw two years ago, struggles to stamp his name on the VFL (whilst Nahas is booting 7 goals a game), gets rewarded with a long contract on good money, and he feels he's been hard done by?

If Black is gone, Freo would not be my trading preference, Brisbane, GC and Melbourne all need key forwards and all have more ability in picks and young players to trade.:)
The best we can hope for if we want to get rid of him is at least a bidding war between 2-3 clubs.

If he goes I don't care where he goes, as long as it nets us the best return possible.

No sympathy for Black from me. Talent only gets you so far. His loyalty was rewarded with big money and what he's delivered is nothing not even close.
Yes he's had injuries but he had 3 chances this year in the ones and didn't take it. He could've taken Ben Brown's spot if he'd performed, didn't take his marks and seems to put on not much defensive pressure. The recruitment of Waite could've helped him as he'd be getting the 3rd best defender but he hasn't delivered.

Its not as simple as that chubbspeterson.........he isnt the same type of player as Brown and if you recall he produced many a lead but got ignored often because the team were instructed to hit up Petrie and Waite.

Brown and Black have different ways to get the ball into to them.

Any preferences RB96?
did you hear the rumour Black for Stringer and their first?;)

Melbourne maybe Watts, if we want to take a gamble
GC part of Bennell (if we are a good match) both have some baggage, both have potential.
Brisbane Aish

or with any of these clubs we could look at Black and our 4th for their 2nd. This would be a waste as we would give away something we probably wont use and get back what we gave up to get Black 6 years ago.

but lets wait until the club puts him up for trade, Ron Joseph once said to me never believe anything until the club confirms it.:)

Pick 25-35 range. Played 50 odd games

Sure Black did get ignored on the lead in a couple of games, but I reckon Brown gets most of his marks out in front on the lead, but he gets involved.
I just see a difference in work rate, body language, and a willingness to put on defensive pressure between the two when they got a spot in the side.

Brown takes alot of marks at the highest point of his leap/launch what he has recently struggled with is the defenders using their hips/chest to "legally tunnel" him out of taking a grab. I invite you to go through thie finals replays and see how many times he marked the ball and then goaled. Not many, can you recall him crumbing his dropped marks and then goaling?

I think youre right with Black's body language and demeanor its not pretty to watch.
i listen to alot of SEN radio and rohan connolly mentions that todays footballers aren't prepared to graft and earn their spots on the team. Its indicitive of todays society where you dont like it you go elsewhere or if its broke to throw it away and buy a new one. No one is prepared to fix things anymore, nor are they prepared to work hard and gain the respect around them. Or should I say there less people that are prepared to do it.

Used to he a fan but he's lost it. And **** you Black's Manager whatever you're name is **** head. Who stuck by Black for four years while we fixed his body? Clown can kiss my arse.

Black's manager is an absolute ass with some of those comments. It's utter crap. We've stood by him through myriad injuries and given him a very healthy pay packet even through form troubles, and he's whinging that we won't gift games to an out-of-form player. We're trying to run a competitive football team here, something I hope every player on the list appreciates. If I was a player and I was being represented like that, I would not hesitate to tell him to get ****ed.

Black himself I'm not convinced genuinely wants to go and I think there is still a strong chance he stays. I don't think any club is going to show massive interest in him, or guarantee him games, or offer him the kind of salary he is on at North, and I think that all things being even he would probably rather stay here. We've had these sort of rumours several years in a row and he has always stuck by the club in the past. I hope he does so again, and that he gets back to his best in 2016. If he does wind up leaving, I wish him the best of luck wherever he winds up.

I would think that, if there was a hot offer on the table and Black seriously wanted to take it, then there would be a more official statement from Black, his manager, and the club. The fact that it's all rumour and innuendo at this point suggests to me there's been no promising suitor for Black's services as yet.

note - 'stuffed' not my first choice of wording in first par.

I can't believe what we are doing here. Once Waitey's hammy inevitably rips for good and Petrie pulls a glute doing frank the tank, who's left?
If Black goes and one of Dish and Waite get a season/career ender, the pecking order likely becomes Daw/Wood/Durdin. Waite/Dish - Brown - Daw/Wood/Durdin is still pretty decent.

Wood can't play key position and Durdin is two big pre-seasons away from having a body capable of play as a key tall. We are very thin on the key forward sat the minute

Even if Black stays, that might be the pecking order. Aaron's problem at North is not that Waite is ahead of him, but that other young players have passed or drawn level with him. He doesn't want to be playing Werribee twos next season, and may not feel confident that he can force his way back to the top of that group and stay there.

Wood as a third hit up, with Waite/Petrie and Brown as key posts. It may require a small change in the way we organise, but not much.

Durdin again as a hit up, not a key monster. He has the wheels and the hands to make that work. With the frame he has I wouldn't be surprised to see him make some decent physical gains over the preseason.
