To be fair Atley provides something we still don't have much in the team in general.

yeah I dont mind that,,,also, could rotate McMillan through there if other guys can hold down back flanks/pockets. Physically not too dissimilar to Black, perhaps even a bit stronger these days, good shot on goal and reckon would be a pretty difficult match up. Atley would create some headaches swinging forward as well. Both being backs should also provide excellent defensive pressure in the fwd 50.Have a look at Gunstan, not exactly a big boy. Wood has him size wise easily, yet Gunstan is considered a KP forward, even though not a monster KP forward.
We could run two KP forwards with Wood and Ziebell as other marking targets and run a very effective forward line. Just look at the Hawks.
My preference is 2 KP forwards, 2 mid sized marking forwards and have Maj as the ruck/forward.
Errmm.....shouldnt Black have spent 2015 doing that?I'd love for Black to spend the year up and down from VFL to AFL bulking up his upper body and developing his lead patterns and overhead marking. That and Mason Wood to spend the off-season running and kicking, developing into the wingman who can be third tall up in defense and push forward into space on offense, including developing a knack for kicking goals on the run from 50-55m out. Our forward line needs to stretch defenses right out to the 50m arc and beyond. I hold more hope for Wood than Black, but if Black goes we need to draft tall forwards along with smooth-moving mids.
I would have Loved for Black to not be so lazy and have worked hard already to have fixed these obvious negatives to his game, iam also hoping Wood dont go down the same path and addresses his shortcomings rather than bludge it up in the VFL then whine later that he was overlooked,I'd love for Black to spend the year up and down from VFL to AFL bulking up his upper body and developing his lead patterns and overhead marking.
I dunno, maybe he took a 'gap' year? Of course he should have, but it'd be good if sorted it. Lots of players have taken a while to have the penny drop, unfortunately for us, if it does with Black he'll likely be wearing different colours. Shame, if he stuck at it, he, Wood and Brown would be a good starting point for a new forward line.Errmm.....shouldnt Black have spent 2015 doing that?
In regard to bulking no. Had shoulder surgery in the off season and was unable to do any weights.Errmm.....shouldnt Black have spent 2015 doing that?
Have we committed ourselves to Daw?If Black goes and one of Dish and Waite get a season/career ender, the pecking order likely becomes Daw/Wood/Durdin. Waite/Dish - Brown - Daw/Wood/Durdin is still pretty decent.
Nail on head DP......good work.Bingo.
This is the exact reason why Wood was played on a wing (due to his running ability) our gameplan just does not suit those of Black/Woods types in the Forward 50.
Bomb it on the triple towers (sorry muricans) and hope for them to be taller than their opponent and clutch a mark.
Most of our goals on the lead are when we've got a free just outside 50 or one of our smalls takes a daisy cutter and then passes it off, we don't look for options between 50 and 35 as a priority.
Black should have been moved to a wing also but he was parked at HF, then in the VFL played as the tall forward of the team and went crap because he took the tall defender every week, FINALLY got moved to a wing by NB coaching toward the end of the season and his output went up. Came in at the end in the 1s and again parked at HF, lead all day but balls travelling 10m over his head to the goal square.
If we continue with this strategy AND Black stays, he must be allowed to roam the wings like he was in 2013.
Again another question is raised regarding development......there s a pattern peeps.Errmm.....shouldnt Black have spent 2015 doing that?
There's been many an argument about Zeibell going forward, but he equally could be a beast down back......I trully believe he needs to have 15-20% game time in relieving the rotations of the mids and then the remaining time whether its back or forward I dont care. He is a feared footballer and maybe just maybe setting him down back throw a cat amongst the opposition pidgeons and allows him to run straighter lines once he has the ball launching it forward at a higher % rate of delivery. This would give a Dumont or another a chance to come into the senior team more regularly. In regard to bulking no. Had shoulder surgery in the off season and was unable to do any weights.
Weights etc are closely regimented during the season so no real bulking would occur.
Same thing for ziebell. Had surgery and came back significantly lighter in the upper body. Didn't pack it back on during the year but I expect we will see a stronger ziebell next year

Jack could replace say the Firrito role if we were not to renew his contract.
I agree in part , reads the game very well & would do well as a loose intercept player much like saints used Goddard in the Lyon years .There's been many an argument about Zeibell going forward, but he equally could be a beast down back......I trully believe he needs to have 15-20% game time in relieving the rotations of the mids and then the remaining time whether its back or forward I dont care. Would definitely have more time to stand and deliver in this role. His field kicking is fantastic if allowed time to weigh up everything in front of him. Using him as a utility is an interesting proposition at the very least. Could spend a third of games in each sector of the ground depending on opposition and match ups. There's been many an argument about Zeibell going forward, but he equally could be a beast down back......I trully believe he needs to have 15-20% game time in relieving the rotations of the mids and then the remaining time whether its back or forward I dont care. For our side to improve , with an adjustment here and a tweak there......we can keep Jack playing a useful role whilst bringing in a younger mid into supporting the others. That player gains confidence knowing the fact if he plays his part each week , with Jack down back or up forward (if there is a need) Scott now has to be creative, the more I think about it we need to continue bring in fresh players slowly being introduced into the senior team while we have Dal Santo, Wells and Harvey around.......Jack plays the Firrito role, thank Spud for his great service and move on.are you thinking in a hodge type role? interesting idea, but I think he is a more effective forward. but worth a try.
Not likely IMO.Definitely big, strong and powerful enough to do so, worth a shot.
Errrr, yeah nah.For our side to improve , with an adjustment here and a tweak there......we can keep Jack playing a useful role whilst bringing in a younger mid into supporting the others. Id be surprised to see Firrito with us next year......if this were to happen it'll be because we didnt land anyone noteworthy in the trade week.Errrr, yeah nah.

of course he would, he signed a 1 year extension. We could land Gary Ablett Jnr, Adam Treloar, Scott Pendlebury and the Prophet Muhammed (for 6 virgins) and a Spud would still be playing.
nah has nothing to do with landing someone, Spud will be there.
