2 year contract. Very little trade value as of right now.

Don't trade, force him to pick himself up by his own bootstraps. If he can, then he can go next year for a better outcome for the club. If he can't then we lose nothing anyway.

So it appears is as soft off-field as he is on if reports are accurate (if).

I've seen Auskick players show more heart and courage in the contest than Black. I really rated him but just been way below standard too often.

I now don't really care what trade we get for him, I'd be very happy just to move on his contract so we can use the very healthy $$ saved on a quality free agent instead.

Plus plus for both parties, I hope we get it done.

Yes we do.

We lose the opportunity to bring external quality in for next season, rather than continue to carry an expensive dud in a position we already have covered.

Of course there is a risk Black comes good elsewhere, and good luck to him if he does, but I think it is a risk worth taking off exposed output if another team is prepared to take him and hos contract off our hands.

We have extra, unplanned for cap space already with the retirements of Narni and Patch which can be used for any such target. I also doubt that at this point we will be able to target anyone worth $400K a year to play key forward for 2016. If not, then we potentially get **** all this year for Black if we trade, or we keep for a year, he plays well and leaves (we get something), he plays well and renews his commitment to the club, or he plays like shit and we lose him for **** all next year.

[Levi Casboult tries to kick the door down but misses and shatters a window on the side of the house instead]

Would only disagree if the money saved would make the difference for a player that is good and gettable now. If we don't need the ready money this year, happy to keep rather than sell at bottom value. Unless Freo go a retro-style stupidly generous trade offer, of course - then I'll pack his bags myself.

I'd love for Black to spend the year up and down from VFL to AFL bulking up his upper body and developing his lead patterns and overhead marking. That and Mason Wood to spend the off-season running and kicking, developing into the wingman who can be third tall up in defense and push forward into space on offense, including developing a knack for kicking goals on the run from 50-55m out. Our forward line needs to stretch defenses right out to the 50m arc and beyond. I hold more hope for Wood than Black, but if Black goes we need to draft tall forwards along with smooth-moving mids.

we drafted 2 talls last draft - as tall as black anyway - black isn't tall.

I assume he can delist himself, thereby voiding his contract and go to the PSD. Can't see any way he gets the coin he's currently on in that case. I'd be tempted to let him do it.

Not sure you can do that, otherwise wouldn't clubs do the same to guys they've realised are over paid spuds? i.e. Black :p

So if he goes I suggest we'd get a late second or early third rounder, I'd go all or nothing with that pick.

Are there any youngsters we could target from Freo that couldn't get a game this year? For example, if we were to give up our second pick and Black for a good young outside player or something
