Love that he's a goal-kicking mid (410 career goals) as they're very valuable. Very good player, below the elite of his generation, but he's had a great career.

for a bit of extra perspective, Harvey should end this season comfortably among the top 10 footballers for games played, will go past Roos, Doull and probably John Blakey (!!) ..

True, but Blakey also fit in a career on the buses.

I know this is an opinion-based forum, but that is a breathtakingly dumb comment.

Harvey has very occasionally been guilty of lacking discipline in the way he has responded to heavy tags. In my opinion, he has rarely received much in the way of protection from umpires, and not always the level of support from team-mates that (eg) Gazza Jr would usually expect.

Considering the amount of off-the-ball sniping and scragging he has copped throughout his career, you might argue that he has generally been pretty well-disciplined in the way he has dealt with it.

Let me know if you can think of one incident where he has set out to snipe an opponent, king-hit someone off the ball, eye-gouge an opponent, dislocate an opponent's elbow, punch someone in the nuts, etc.

Sorry but Harvey is a very dirty player.

You only have to go back to the Elimination Final last year to see why.

Plenty of players cop hard tags, but not every player goes around belting players off the ball like Harvey did to Selwood and Kerr resulting in 6 weeks in the stands.

Brent harvey ever play a good final?

Edit Looking at his record one v hawthorn in 2000, rest are below average, so surely no one thinks he is up with voss, hird etc.

Voss third Buckley are the best of a generation. I would have him very close but not in that group.

If you can clearly see what happened in that footage that he was convicted on.....you sir have better vision than the Hubble.

Does anybody here think he will not be inducted into the hall of fame ?

Now correct me if im wrong but isn`t that the exact distinction of where you stand in the game ?

State your case, we can always come back & revisit in 5 years.

Yes he will be in the Hall of fame. But would he have been put in the Hall of Fame if he had played 250 career games instead of 350?

For me, Harvey is my all time favourite player. Being born in '96, he's basically been my hero growing up and as he's been playing thoughout my entire lifetime. I don't recall another player who has been so consistently good as him over a period as long as he's been playing. There's nothing better to watch than Boomer pick up the footy and do his trademark run and goal and I'm certainly grateful for his loyalty and service to the North Melbourne Football Club over his current 349 games.

I don't care where others put him in terms of 'All Time Greats' but I don't see why he couldn't be named among Buckley, Voss and Hird. Not many players at Harvey's build could match him for longevity, toughness and leadership.

So your saying take off about 30% of his achievements & see where he stands?
Lets do that for everybody then....it only seems fair.

Yes and I don't buy that Harvey should be forgiven for his dirty tactics because he gets a hard tag and is undisciplined.

Just because he doesn't king hit people doesn't mean his striking off the ball should be accepted.

Fair players don't get suspended for 6 weeks at a time.

I did state that he has sometimes.......not regularly, not often but sometimes........been undisciplined in his reactions. That doesn't mean I accept it.

Other than those occasionally undisciplined reactions to taggers, Harvey has always been a ball player.

You talk about him as if he's a latter-day Mad Dog Muir or David Rhys-Jones.

And if you want to brand him a dirty player due to the 6-match suspension from 2 incidents in the final last year, perhaps you can explain just how he copped weeks for supposedly striking Selwood when there was no footage of him doing so, and no umpire saw him doing so.
