Oh, he's so beautiful. So sad he's going, but so glad I saw him. :( Best of luck Shannon

Every team a North Melbourne team takes the field, they should be playing for pride, and love of the jumper.
That has not been sustained for any length of time since Laidley took over.

That's we get for putting some smart arsey tactician who speaks in corporate c0ocksuck rather than appealing to the North Melbourne Tradition.

I think it is fair to say that there are players who don't make the most of their talents (indeed who would appear to wasted them), and those that extract everything and more.

Shannon is definitely in the latter category and kudos for his efforts and his contribution. He can leave with his head held high. Holding Johnno goalless in his (Watt's) 100th was an effort that stands out. Along with an effort or two against Pavlich, including when Pav went into the middle, at Subiaco, I think.

Watt suffered when required to play deep in defence on KPPs, but did okay in certain match ups with third talls playing further down the ground, usually when he could run with them, rather than have to use his body. Q, I think it is fair to say he was hopeless in using his body in marking duels, but that wasn't his strength. Better running with, and running off, even if he did get ahead of his capabilities at times.

On that note, some of his clangers were Chaplin-esque and while enfuriating at times, also brought a smile to the face.

Well done and good luck Shannon! :thumbsu:

Pretty disgusting thread - to pot a life member of your club and someone who has played 160 games for your club during an era that has been reasonably successful.

If you didn't like him as a player - fair enough - but getting on a forum and bagging someone has been there for 11 years and has always put the team first on every concievable occasion - you blokes have no class.

Every **** tries.

We expect them to, Watt is no different but he is not the only one busting his ass. FFS, we need to raise the standards, he was a below average player who tried his best but was not good enough to succeed (IMO, yes he played 160 games, but he does not get a pass).

And success? we are in the bottom 5 for total wins for the whole decade.

Disagree. Every team a North Melbourne team takes the field, they should be playing for pride, and love of the jumper.

Why would Shannon Watt be any different in that regard?

He's played for 'pride' and 'love of the jumper' 160 times.

Played most of his football in one of our most stupidly managed periods in the club's history.

Was hard done by our need to play him at FB and I will forever be intrigued as to whether he could have been a good KP forward if given half a chance. Does not receive the credit he deserves by virtually all Roo supporters but I for one thank him for his efforts and wish him the best into the future.

good post.

poor bastard had to play full back when year after year we ignored bolstering our weak back line and used him to try and plug gaps against the likes of Jonathan Brown and such.

All the best Shan, copped way too much crap off some of the 'experts' on here.

I said good luck for the future.

I will not, however, lie to his face and say he is a good player.

Now that's pathetic.
At what stage did I say he was a good player?

I said he embodies North. He gave it his all for 11 years. He may not have been the most talented player to ever play the game, but hell, he gave a crack when he was given a shot. He just happened to lack the talent we hoped for and so was surpassed.

Oh, and I'm not lying to his face. I have to be talking to the bloke to be able to do that.

Funny that West Coast seem like they wont give Chad Fletcher (A premiership player and All-Australian) a farewell game, yet we are more than happy to give Shannon Watt one.

What does that say about our culture?

We gave a bloke who spent a year on the list and played a total of 3 games a farewell game. What does that say about our culture?

I agree with this.

I said he embodies North.
Not with this.

Oh, and I'm not lying to his face. I have to be talking to the bloke to be able to do that.
Wow.

Boring.

Jesus.

The bloke was practically useless.

Good luck to him, but it shits me when ***** bag players only for them to suck his **** when he retires.
You're a joke.

There's a difference between people thanking a bloke for playing for the club, and people suddenly claiming he was a star and all that crap.

Wtf's wrong with people doing the former? What's ****ing pathetic is idiot's like yourself, that even after a bloke bleeds for the club, gets chastised and isn't shown any respect.
