Would be extremely sad if the case.. and I hope for Harros sake it isn't.. but I guess, if the worst comes to the worst.. and he is our for alot of the season- it gives a chance for Grima to make himself a spot in the 22 (or any other midfielder.. but as Grima is in at the moment- his name comes to mind)

Go Roos

Two of our best young prospects (Harro and Junior).
Winning is one thing but building the team is another. I would give away two wins out of our 4 to have those guys fit and firing from next week...

nah, 4-0 is better. I know flags aren't won in April but getting these armwrestle wins is more significant than having players play as individuals >> no guarentee of a win.

If it's true, let's get him fixed up ASAP.

He has had four seasons, but he has finally established what he is capable of. I'd rather see him rested or operated on to get this problem right.

If we have to play Grima, Jesse S, Trotter or whoever in the meantime, all the better. Harro is now a known quantity and we have to get him right as soon as possible.

For all our short term success right now, our genuine tilt at the flag in 2-4 years is the real goal. We need him at 100% for that...

If its a grain problem then at least it will make the selections process a bit easier in another week.

While Harris has the reputation, on form alone I would say that Grima & Sansbury are Shading Harro at the moment and we still need to get the Glove back in the side

Agreed.

Give him time to recover properly, so that when he comes back, he'll be at 100%. He's still young, so resting him for a month or two will be better for him in the long term.

For gosh sakes if he has an injury DONT play him! bring another kid in and give them a go...could it be
out: Harris
in: Mcintosh?

or would that be too tall

As I am told he has a persistent groin problem and the club medicos suspect OP. I don't know the results of the OP test but whether it is that or not he has a nagging groin that needs something done as it is affecting his form severely.

I'm no medical expert but would it be more wise to rest players with 'nagging groin injuries' instead of risking them to aggrevate the injury more ? Sounds like logic to me >>> very much like Junior's bung shoulder >>> could see that 'major injury' happening but that 'All stars' game was far more important to Junior to play than elect to have off season surgery.

Depends on the injury. If it is OP then it is better to pack up, and go on holidays for 6 months.

No injury gets better by playing but some injuries will not get any worse if you play or not, things like bruising or soreness is not going to get worse, it may be uncomfortable but there is probably little risk in aggrevating the injury.

Some players are just not used to playing with niggling injuries. Archer has a huge tollerance of pain and can play well despite the discomfort. It may just be Harris has not been accustom to playing with a niggling injury such as soreness.

Is it better to rest? Yes. But most players have become accustom at playing when hurt. If he wants to play and the injury is not serious and he passes a fitness test then Coaches will generally play them.

I would be surprised if he is playing if he has been diagnosed with OP.

It may sound silly but if you need an operation to fix an injury then often the player will continue to play until it becomes unbearable. Sounds silly but when you think about it once they have surgery that's it. You don't have them at all. The thinking is an injured good player is still better then an injured below average player. If Go kangas information is correct I would say he has OP. If he had a groin strain there is no way he would still be playing. The reason being a groin strain will heel with treatment. Also playing with a groin strain can also turn into a groin tear and this is a major soft tissue injury which takes a long time to heel and has a tendancy to reoccur. OP on the other hand can be manageable. The problem is the only way you get rid of OP is complete rest or an operation depending on how bad it is. This is usually done at the end of the season for the reasons mentioned above. One of the signs of someone having OP is it is effected by kicking. If Harro looks in pain when he kicks the ball on Saturday then we will have an idea that something is up.

20 disposals spending copius amounts of time again on the bench. Just give him the PT Laidley. [Was his "Injury" concerns a reason for lack of time].

I remember seeing he had played something like only 60 minutes at 3/4 time, basically missing an entire quarter.

He was good today no doubt, I love the way he wins the hard ball and he is so important to our clearances.

But his disposal can be ordinary. I saw 2 or 3 very poor handballs today that were direct turnovers to the opposition and very costly to us. A great player, but with still a bit to learn.

Was unsighted in the first quarter

our injuries saw him get a lot of game time after blake went down and that obviously ran him into a bit of form.

Some passages of play in the final quarter saw him just about back to his best with Clearences

Have you ever contemplated the fact that his time off the ground may actually increase his his effectivenes when he is on the field??!!!!

Bizarre concept innit??

I just wish he'd kick the ball. That bit of play where he won the hard ball andevryone pushed forward and he missed Thommo by hand going backwards cost us a goal. His ability to win the ball and then find space but cough it up by hand when he could have kicked it is frustrating.

I don't think I have ever seen so many handballs and chip passes go astray as the first half of yesterday's game. Harro was definitley a culprit, but not on his own. Hard to explain why so many hand passes that didn't seem to be under much pressure went so badly astray.
Our hand skills looked shocking but so did the Hawks. I suppose there is a certain pressure that us fans don't see that makes this happen.
