i rate dylan smith ahead of ben robbins.

dylans handballing is more damaging.

i think dylan has the potential to be another peter bell.

if he does get traded. i think we will regret it big time.

and d. harris is a classy mover who runs all day. another big mistake if we offload him too.

i would have these two in the side before t. makepeace and b. robbins.

why ?

because b. robbins and t. makepeace will always give 110 %. but their best is good, but not great.

if we got the best out d. smith and d. harris, i think they could be really special.

This would be there 3rd season with us so I'm not at all worried considering it took Boomer a while before he came good.:)

There are other players to worry about atm.

I have no problems with you impugning Carlos' sexuality but you leave mine alone!!

I admire Harro in a very platonic way!!!

Unless Dylan Smith has red hair and wears the number 30, Ben Robbins is by far the best handballer in the club.

Ben Robbins .... Daylight

have a look at some of the magic he weaved against the Bombers last weekend with his handballers

a Rather big call considering Dylan has only played a handful of games in the seniors with limited opportunities off the bench and Ben Robbins was top 10 in our best and fairest

Go out on a limb here, having watched Harro since U/18 i think if he was to get more game time we'd be saying he would be the best handballer at the club... daylight. Robbins is how ever pretty handy as well. With Smith i think the reason ppl might think he is a good handballer is because he kicks the ball like a frog in a blender, or did last time i saw him play(ages ago)

Have to agree with you football365. Havent seen Harro enough to get a real grasp on his vision and decision making but he has lightnening quick hands.

Robbins and Harro are very similar players. Great tacklers, in and under types who love to shoot out handballs. But IMO Harro has much more potential in a creative sence and as an athlete.

It's sign-up day at my son's Footy club on Sunday.....

At sign up day , the kids get to show their stuff and then get selected into whichever grade they are in for the year.

My little bloke has had an affiliation with the mighty No 4 jumper and the Royal Blue and White No 4 will be prominent amognst the many Crow Color No23's and Port No 1's.

Here's hoping that Harro shows some of that form that had us thinking "Here's a real goer" way back in that ill fated Ansett Cup game played over here.

I love the way he plays.

Ben Robbins is also very good.He has the game time where Harro has not.

Yet another reason why I'm glad I'm not the coach or a selector.

I had a chat to Mark Roberts during the previous pre season and I posed the question in relation to Smith and Harris. His opinion, and those of the coaching staff at the time, was that ther was absolutely no doubt that Dylan Smith would eventually become a top line player. He wasn't quite so effusive in his praise of Harris, merely saying that he had a lot of hard work ahead of him. Not sure if this translates to the present regime.
From what I've seen Harro has been the slighty more impressive at senior level, but Dylan has been much more consistent at VFL standard.
Its going to be tough for both of them. But competition for places in the team can only be a good thing for the club.

Harris does look like he has the skills... And he's been laying on the muscle, lean and very mean looking machine. Just hope he manages to cement a place. I reckon he could be a real killer...

That is a great observation and one I have thought all along.

errrrrrr........good point?

So no-one wants to see Harris in the seniors this week?

Frankly, I will be most disappointed if Harro doesnt cut it as a player this year. More so than Petrie, Wells, Hale, Motlop & Watson. Those guys still have more time & natural development left in them.

This year is just about make or break for Harro IMO. I think he is the type that will look elsewhere if he doesnt get an opportunity sometime soon.

Personal opinion we should've cut our losses with him last year and moved him on for a draft pick. Dime a dozen type player with too many more of his type and better on the list. We'd be better off trying to develop a key position player.

But...while he's wearing the royal blue and white...hope he gets a few kicks and proves me wrong.

Harro is what we are missing in the midfield. He ia quick, strong and has very good awareness and hand skills. Would be good to add a second burst player to Boomer as we seem to have developed many outside runners with pace, but not as many inside runners with pace.

You can't get rid of him. He's our new Stevo! He's got great hands and a bit of mongrel in him.

All I know is that if we can improve our youngsters by showing a bit of faith in them, I could see Harro becoming a REALLY REALLY good player with a bit of faith.

It would almost have been a blessing in disguise if Stevo got rubbed out this week. I would have loved to see him take his role in a straight swap!

Sorry, wanted to weigh in to the argument, but couldn't put it any better!

(Also I've expressed these sentiments a few times on this board and didn't want to sound like a stuck record)

Haven't got too many of his type, Lidge, certainly not amongst the youngsters. His standout attributes are lightning fast hands, his tackling and smothering, and his work under packs. But he also has a very good burst of pace.

People bag his kicking, but his technique is actually quite good - much more penetration than Smith (for example), and without the obvious technical flaws of someone like Rawlings. If anything, the problems have been caused by decision making, or downfield vision.

Players who can pick up 20 - 30 possessions in their first couple of senior games are not a dime a dozen!

Harro IS playing tonight! YAY FOR HARRO.. been a wait for all of us here, and him, but he is playing.

No Burton..

I think I saw Watson - not sure.. can someone clarify if he is playing for me? Think I saw him named on the bench.

Brown named at CHF.

Go Roos
