Re: 4. Rick Ladson

Ladson's perfect pass to Franklin during last seconds of the 1st Elimination Final, Hawthorn v Adelaide at the Telstra Dome, season 2007.

"Franklin's match-winning bomb came from 50 metres out on the left forward flank, the difficult side for a left-footer, after marking a short pass from teammate Rick Ladson."

The story. Adelaide's Scott Thomson kicked the ball out of bounds with the Crows just in front with less than a minute to go.

Shane Crawford took the free kick and crossed passed to Rick Ladson. Laddo really wasnt any closer to goal just further in field. Laddo holds up the ball and searches for options. Sees Buddy on the lead. Perfect kick, great mark and then GOAL by Buddy for the Hawks to win the Elimination Final with 7 seconds to go.

From a supporters point of view watching Laddo hold the ball was the longest couple of seconds in my life. I could just see visions of Laddo holding the ball and the siren going.

Proved he is a good man to have when the pressure is on and believe me the pressure was on in this game.

DANGEROUS midfielder Brad Sewell claimed his first Peter Crimmins Medal after a nail-biting finish in front of a 1300 strong crowd at Crown’s Palladium on Saturday night.

Re: 4. Rick Ladson

His best season at the club so far. The drive he gave us out of the backline, this year was invaluable. I still believe there is more improvement to come from Laddo yet!

Re: 4. Rick Ladson

Selection 34 has gone to Number24 who has taken number 4 Rick Ladson in this years Buddy Draft.

Big Year for Laddo, but we will forever remember that pass to Buddy with 50 seconds left. We just want more and more. One of the most underrated taggers in the game.

IT IS fair to say the Hawks experienced a bit of a ‘different’ build-up to Saturday night’s match against Essendon, but Rick Ladson maintains the focus of the group did not waver at any point.

WHEN Hawthorn's Rick Ladson was drafted in 2001, the year touted as the "super draft", his name didn't exactly stand out.

Selected at number 16, he was largely ignored behind the superstar recruits such as Chris Judd, Luke Ball, Jimmy Bartel and Luke Hodge.

HAWTHORN defender Rick Ladson says the turning point in his career came at the end of the 2005 season when former skipper Richie Vandenberg took him under his wing and helped him turn into a key part of the side's make-up.

Quote:

  • HAWTHORN handyman Rick Ladson had good reason to believe he was bulletproof after playing every game last season, culminating in a premiership medal.
He was due to start this season by celebrating his 100th game.

But complications after arthroscopic surgery to clean out a knee in early January have condemned the left-footer to sit and watch Hawthorn stumble to a 3-3 record.

Have your say!

  • HAWTHORN premiership defender Rick Ladson's frustrating wait for his 100th AFL game is nearly over.
Barring an unforeseen setback, Ladson is expected to make his long-awaited season debut against West Coast on Saturday night.
A knee injury has marooned the rebounding backman on 99 games since last year's Grand Final triumph, but he has finally been able to step up and sustain his workload during the past month.

Re: 4. Rick Ladson

Laddo returned vs. West Coast with a serviceable performance in god-awful loss to a team odds-on to receive a priority pick. Hopefully see the kick/handball ratio reversed as his confidence grows.
