Ryan isn't ready to ruck full games yet.
Bauer was decent up forward but looks far better down back. Ball watched alot up forward.
He can't ball watch in the AFL or he will be back at VFL level real quick.
What's the harm of seeing what he has got in the forward line? We run pretty deep down back, we don't need him there right now. However, we do need a forward.

Who's spot is he taking in the forward line? Jack? No, Dusty? No, Cumberland? No, Ryan? No. Can't play a small forward or mid/fwd role either.

He'd be fairly interchangeable with Young down back given he played on Ben Brown on the weekend. Could be a Jake Lever type interceptor.

Like I said, Ryan can play predominantly ruck. That's the spot he takes. If Bauer was ever going to play, it would need to be this week.
Ryan has the height to go up against Witts, maybe just not the strength just yet.
However, our mids were switched on again Monday night so I have faith they can shark a few taps from Witts.

Looks like Soldo might be fit but it might not be wise to rush him back in.

Would be remiss of us to play Samson one out V witts. They're not going to play Bauer 3 weeks straight in the vfl backline and say he's been a revelation there only to throw him forward in the seniors. Won't happen.

I can assure you that if he is selected at AFL level, he will be playing forward.

But then again I've been wrong about everything this year so there's that.
Look at my picks each week and I am right with you on the dodgy call department.

Not me...100 purr cent so far...only prob is I forget to post in my weekly tips...View attachment 1671555
You poor bastard.

You're obviously a footy genius. You should be in charge of the footy dept. Just turn your brilliance in so that we can use it to dominate.

So basically 'he's not working hard enough'. Fair praise to say that about his contest work though.

Jacob Bauer (12 disposals, five rebound-50s, three marks)

"Jacob's contest work is as good as we have at the Club, but I'd love to see him give himself more opportunities to compete in those contests. But, he equally had some super aerial contests in which he was able to nullify."

nuts on the chopping block, he'll be a gun defender.

Hope so. Fair public whack from Morris.
That’s one thing I’ve liked from Morris’s vfl assessments compared to X

Morris will highlight the good but isn’t afraid to lay out the negatives either
Gives us a better insight into how the players are actually tracking

The knock has always been work ethic.

See I don’t understand that with some footballers , I would have given my left nut to be able to play footy at pro level . Then you get players that are there given the chance and they don’t work hard enough .
100% man.

The problem with so many, is they didnt have to, then suddenly, they are the small fish in a big pond.

Morris seems to be the type that will only give you a rev if he knows you're capable of much better. Bit like Dimma with Cumbo.
Everyone can see Cumbo has the talent but he needs that kick to truly elevate to elite.

This is the exact reason many dominant junior KPP fail so badly at the elite level as well as mids.

They might be bigger stronger more developed as opposed to many of their peers thus stand out and get things done somewhat easier.

They get to the big boys pool and flounder in the shallow end, and dont have the previous work ethic to draw upon because it was easy for them previously.

Has been giving away a lot of free kicks in contests. Is still extremely raw defensively. Relying heavily on natural athleticism in defending.
Not very quick hand to foot either.

I’m not as optimistic about Bauer personally
I'm with you a bit, not bad in the air, but not much chop at ground level, just doesn't have the time that good players have. Much preferred him as a forward because he launches at the ball and is very aggressive in that respect. Can't understand the swap from forward to back.
