Interesting how information sources have both changed and influenced throughout the ages.
Mate of mine worked in the States ~ 30 years ago - even then the Cable choices were vast and bizarre - made Jerry Springer look like wholesome family viewing. Throw in Televangelists and you have the foundation of dumbing down a large part of the population. That's a long period of crap and more than enough time to turn peoples brains into porridge.

Social Media has emboldened that trend with algorithms giving us dopamine hits based on our desires and preferences.
It's also given true f***wits a voice that otherwise wouldn't be heard , unfortunately.
I'd gladly live in a world where Alex Jones , Roger Stone, Steve B and Roseanne did not have a platform.

Once again in this election Social Media will be the prominent source of political based news - heaven help us if there are enough nutters to get the orange dotard over the line.................

It is interesting. We had national elections here a few years ago. The KMT (Chinese Nationalist Party) of Chiang Kai-shek fame, got their butts handed to them. Their prez candidate was a right wing populist who had been shown to receiving Chinese support of various kinds. Their campaign was old school, fear of war with Chinese caused by the pro-Taiwanese party. (never mind they had been in power before and no such ever came close to happening), and mostly on cable or radio which they overwhelmingly control. The rusted on supporter and casuals took it as gospel, again. But the younger voters, who are more used to internet sources didn't fall for it. They turned out in large numbers and the KMT lost huge.
I view it as hope in that the younger generations are evolving and learning to discriminate better.

While it is fact he sued, the grounds for suing was for royalty cost ($50million) and I cannot find any outcome of the lawsuit anywhere. I Therefore he has not successfully sued.
The most recent article (more than 16 hours, the recent ones refer to the above statement) is from the guardian in September indicating that the defence has moved to dismiss the suit (again nothing on outcome)
