Just a reminder, even if it hasn't come up for a few pages and y'all should know this stuff by now:

This thread is not about Covid, lockdowns, or vaccines. It is about Donald Trump. While Trump was in office during the pandemic and his response to Covid is relevant, there are pertinent threads for you to post your opinions on those things in.

It might also do with reminding a few that when you post on the SRP, you are responsible for backing up/verifying your claims to fact. Do not post conspiracy theories on this forum. We have an entire other forum for that.

Thanks all.

My point is that vaccine safety and efficacy has been studied by thousands of scientists. There are thousands of published research papers with the results of their studies. Coming in with the mindset that he is right (despite not actually studying any data) and everyone else who has studied is wrong is a tad worrisome, don't you think. And somewhat arrogant and ignorant? Maybe even suggestive of a decades long conspiracy theory bought into by the many thousands of scientists who have spent their careers working in this field to collectively delude the American (and world) population into taking harmful vaccines?
How do you know what his mindset is?
That is just your assumption and rather arrogant and ignorant I would have thought.

Hardly. He's on record with dubious claims about vaccines, has helped spread fear and mistrust.

Now apparently it turns out he wants to look at the data. Wait... he hasn't already?

At best he's running his mouth, making substantial claims that if adhered to, can lead to illness and death for the public, without a full understanding. Hardly the mindset you want in a Health official.

"Its only words, we don't know what he will actually do once there."

Can we actually get a genuine conservative in here who can offer constructive criticism of Trump, like us on the left do for the dems?
Give me something factual to discuss that is not based on an X post or what people think might happen some time in the future.
Or some isolated comment made in the past that has been taken out of context or is not relevant to today.

What has he said?
He’s said he is not rolling back any vaccines - not sure how much clearer he can be.

Nobody believes this scaremongering anymore.

Nothing groundbreaking there.

From the article, some additives in water are known to impact frogs and he wants to research whether it impacts humans as well. Thats it. It would be negligent if this wasn’t examined.

Researching impact on humans is reasonable.

Investigating whether this is directly causing children to be transgender or gay is absolutely unacceptable. An absurdity by someone who is secretary of health. It looks like he will spend his time misappropriating public funding on investigating his cooker conspiracy theories. He'll keep spending money too until he can find someone who vaguely agrees with him.

No legitimate investigation into health matters investigates a pre determined outcome.

Then why did you ****wits commit to the peaceful transfer of power?

If it's wrong, ****ing do something about it beyond point it out with the power you possess.

the dems were super critical of trump throwing out the toys last time. it would be hypocritical if they did something similar this time. that shouldn’t preclude them from speaking out.

Yeah. It’s called poverty.

There is a strong correlation between crime and poverty and substantial evidence that there is a causal relationship.

In the US, poverty afflicts different groups more than others. Unsurprisingly, you therefore find a higher incidence of crime.

Same as in Australia.

Fix poverty and crime rates will go way down.

Rocket science 101.
There is an issue beyond racism though, not to say racism isn't an issue, but it isnt the only issue.

Charles Barkley of all people has been harping on about it, amongst others in the Black American community, and I have seen a provocative theory about why.

To highlight sport. Millions of black American kids chase a dream of the NBA or the NFL. While even athletically gifted Asian kids are more or less forced into chasing dream of being a Dr, or lawyer or engineer.

But, there are waaay more Drs than there are NBA players.

And if you try to be a Dr, and fail, there are plenty of careers those that were almost Drs can pursue, those that were almost NBA players, not so much.

So, success is much more common in Asian and white societies than Black, because they are chasing more realistic and achievable goals.

It's also seen in rap, where it's common to write lyrics that promote yourself, but also, to push others around you down. How many rap songs are there about the rapper stealing other guys girls?

Black culture deprioritises education, and promotes elevating yourself at the expense of others 'trash talk'.

An explanation for this is, poor black societies descended from slaves, emulated those around them. The Southern redneck society.

A group that traditionally did not value high education or knowledge, was suspicious of and dismissive of others, and distrusting of authority.

Black culture emulates this, and then you add entrenched racism on top.

Ok Marco Rubio as secretary of state, when he is like a Neocon on steriods. When Trump is supposedly anti war, there are actually some online people who supported Trump against this, where do you stand?

What's a worse outcome?

  • democracy ending in America.
  • being called a hypocrite.

I know which one I think is worse.

The guy is bonkers. In an array of laughable appointments, this one is zinger. He cheerfully admits a worm ate his brain- and that’s the least of his problems!

You lost me at ‘Neocon’.
Don’t really care what ‘online people’ think. It’s not relevant to what may or may not happen.

I think its a perpetuating cycle. I think the differences between people who have high incomes irrespective of race would be minimal. So I think it's a class thing.

Also this is why DEI aka positive discrimination is a thing. People see more black doctors and people in those professions, they will thing being these things is possible for them. Your example of NBA players is because they see them as NBA players, and as that is an area where if you are legit good enough nothing can stop you (and you don't need a fancy degree which costs money) of course that appeals, as its an area they see themselves represented in.

Also you mention rap music, but in predimanently white music genres, while not so much acceptable now but up until the end of the hair metal era (well maybe nu-metal too) there was all sorts of boneheaded sexist crap. Lots of fetishisation of underage girls in there too.

I agree the answer isn't just give them a whole lot of money and something something everyone is happy. But there needs to be a way to lift people in general out of poverty in the USA. It's not good that they seem to be moving in a direction of a Darwinian, lord of the flies type society.
