Since Trump won the election, I have noticed an increase in Christmas stuff around the shops and town. I guess he really did bring back Christmas.

Not all. I believe there has to be a special election to replace a congressman. But if a senator steps down before his term is up, the governor of the state gets to nominate a replacement. I think they're obliged to nominate someone with a similar political outlook as the person they're replacing. I also think (though am happy to be corrected) that the replacement only sits until the next election. They don't take over the entire term of the elected senator they're replacing. So an election would be held in 2026 to confirm or replace the appointment.

Governors I am not sure. May depend on state law.

My theory is if gaetz gets knocked back then he replaces rubio and avoids ethics issue
