Specifically: reference to TDS (Trump Derangement Syndrome) and its counterpart 'Trumpanzee' or anything similar will no longer be allowed.

Personal attacks are also to be kept to a minimum.

Just a reminder, even if it hasn't come up for a few pages and y'all should know this stuff by now:

This thread is not about Covid, lockdowns, or vaccines. It is about Donald Trump. While Trump was in office during the pandemic and his response to Covid is relevant, there are pertinent threads for you to post your opinions on those things in.

It might also do with reminding a few that when you post on the SRP, you are responsible for backing up/verifying your claims to fact. What this means is that you will be asked time to time to support your claims with evidence, to ensure that this forum is as free of misinfomation as we can make it.

Do not post conspiracy theories on this forum. We have an entire other forum for that.

Thanks all.

Congrats Royces Hart on the new thread title!

Excellent detailed assessment of the Big Pharma tariff issue I've been going on about today with a focus on negotiating tactics - ironically on Musk's X platform and because Turnbull paid for the Blue Tic he gets the privilege of a long post.

Worth a read (edit: Turnbull gets bonus points for use of the term monopsonistic. A monopsony is where there is only one buyer in the market -in this case the Australian government - as opposed to a monopoly where there is just one seller).

Labor should run on PBS. It's political suicide for either party, but Labor can easily point to Dutton's love of Trump and say how do you know he won't bend the knee?

Yep - the PBS is the running mate of Medicare which is already becoming the platform of Albanese's re-election campaign.

Rumours of it being targeted by Trump makes it near certainty for being part of the attack ads.

It's a cult, calling it a mental illness or s offensive to those reasonable and intelligent people I know as family, friends or acquaintances who have mental disabilities..

Is she actually Australian? I have looked around and can't find a single audio or video or her. It's almost as if she's afraid of people hearing her voice/accent...

We know how many overseas accounts try to pass off as American/European conservatives (Inevitable West (Indian crypto scammer), End Wokeness (Polish guy), Ian Miles (Malaysian who has never stepped foot in the US) etc in order to sow chaos. That;s not even counting all the Russian bots.

Pretty curious..

Unfortunately she’s Australian

I’d really love a skilled auditor to interview Trump to totally expose the fraud he is in front of the world but his minders would never allow it, especially in the current climate. Just continually ask questions using Rudyard Kipling’s six honest serving men would be hilarious…

Back when I studied comms these were the main tenets of journalism. Sadly they're ignored far too often in today's media landscape.

Hammer Dutton for a response to this PBS Trump pressuring Australia
We all know what the response will be.

'Of course the Coalition and I are committed to the PBS' And then the redirection...

'But we are in this position because the Prime Minister Mr Albanese has been unwilling and unable to front Mr Trump to put forward Australia's case. He hasn't even been able to get Mr Trump to take his phone calls. What does that tell you about the effectiveness of Mr Albanese in negotiating with the US President.....'

And that last paragraph is exactly what both the ABC and commercial media will run with this week. Mark my words.

There will be absolutely zero scrutiny of Dutton's failure to provide a united front against Trump and his willingness to play politics for personal gain at a time of crisis for Australian industry and consumers.

Albanese shouldn't directly 'hammer' Dutton on the PBS - that is a trap too easy to avoid. He should instead loudly demand that Dutton lay down arms and present a bipartisan and united approach against Trump as happened in Canada and Europe. THAT would put the pressure on Dutton to stop the game playing.

But I just don't think Albanese is good enough on his feet to forcefully present such a case in a press conference.

They’re not. Once a drug has been developed, tested and approved, I imagine the marginal cost of production is pretty low. If it wasn’t profitable for pharmas to supply drugs at the prices determined by our government, they wouldn’t supply them. They might be annoyed that they don’t make the same profit margin as they do in the US, but they’re still making a profit.
Wait so big Pharma is the friend now? I thought they were concocting fake pandemics so we're all forced to buy their vaccines. I can't keep up 🤪

On a side note, Trump's unprecedented actions in circumventing the US Constitution and strong arming Congress and the Supreme Court to enforce his will via Executive Decisions made me reflect on the debate at the conventions leading up to the failed Republican Referendum here in Australia.

Those who were around at the time might recall that Malcolm Turnbull lead the charge for the establishment of an Australian head of State to replace the UK monarch and in the end was thwarted by internal debate within the pro-Republican side of how that Australian Head of State should be nominated.

Turnbull and most of the leaders of the Australian Republican Movement were adamant that we should NOT have a popularly elected Head of State because that would set up the potential for conflict between the Head of State and Parliament. But many pro-republican supporters disagreed effectively dividing the majority pro-republic team.

Largely as a result of that that internal conflict, the vast majority in favour of an Australian Head of State and an Australian Republic evaporated in the weeks leading to the referendum and it was easily defeated - aided by then John Howard's clever insistence that the referendum must be based around alternative models rather than a simple yes/no for a Republic from which alternative models for an Australian Republic could be carefully thought through by legal and legislative experts for a subsequent vote. The advertising for the no change movement was 'vote No if you don't know' and was very effective. Sound Familiar?

Events of the past 2 months have shown conclusively that Malcolm Turnbull's opposition to a popularly elected President for Australia, in the US manner, were completely justified.

I though Rubio was dumb, but not this dumb.
He obviously doesn't realise that like the US Canada is a member of the G7

Rubio is so pathetic, Trump made fun of him and his family back in 2016 yet he has bent the knee, lick the rim and became a complete cuck for his own career. An absolute eunuch, just like Ted Cruz
