And people didn’t like Justin Langer (including the players who could only dream of having his mental toughness)
Are you forgetting the bouncer feast we had on the last day against India 2 years ago in Sydney?

I've said before that it feels like we are the same team tactically under McDonald than with Langer.

I said when Langer was going that it'd be nice to at least do a proper search for a new coach all around the world. Not even sure if they bothered and just went with one of the boys. Really feels like CA has zero imagination. Hate England but at least they go looking far and wide for a head coach and most of their most successful ones the last 20 years have been foreigners. India's most successful one was a foreigner too during that time. Just because Arthur didn't work out doesn't mean we should limit ourselves

This is what happens when you favour a genx coach because you don’t like the truth . We are soft as butter
Cummins , how did it go ? Carnt bowl , carnt bat , carnt catch ! Wtf is going on here

Poms will blast us around to lunch then bowl us out before the rain comes. We have no balls to fight it out
Will fold like cards

I dont think there will be enough time to force a result but all England can do is go all-out attack for a session and a half.
maybe get a 200+ lead and then see if there is time to get the wickets.

Reckon we should put a few out and go the short ball this morning.
Short to Brook for sure. Leg theory.

Nothing at Stokes body. 6th-7th stump line. The (should have been) Crawley line but maybe a little fuller. Stokes is a hard one though cause his array of shots is so vast. Pack the off side field.

The first priority is to slow down the scoring. They put on 30 from the last 10 overs last night and we should aim to get something close to that.

Anyone actually know whether the weather will be a factor tonight? Can take it Saturday will be wiped out, but seems like plenty of time today and Sunday for them to humilate us because we are entirely incapable of batting three sessions....
Looks probably clear today, Saturday and Sunday may well be both no play possible. They may (20% chance perhaps) also be no play required.

Not sure who this person is but they're on point most of the time and they are again here.

I wouldn't let us fully off the hook for yesterday but I don't think doing anything different at the selection table changes much. We didn't cop any luck with Crawley early in his innings. That was streaky as ****. Fair play he took full advantage, but 9 times out of 10 he is walking back to the pavilion with the score around 2/30 and the pressure would have really been on then.

I thought we pulled it back a bit last night with the two late wickets and slowed the run-rate a bit. Hopefully the lads have had a good sleep and mentally reset. The odd ball is keeping low, but essentially this is a very good batting pitch still. We still have a job to do - take early wickets, slow them down. If we can get out of arrears then every run we add will mean that England need time in the middle to chalk them off. We can save this game.

Just my thoughts. I would open the batting in the second innings with Mitchell Marsh. We need to get off to a flying start. Look at how Zak Crawley has set the tempo for England in this series, particularly in this riveting innings of his. We need this. Have Warner bat with the lower order/tail. Then he might have a chance of making a better score. I thought we should have gone into this test with Marsh opening the batting, dropping Warner, and keeping Murphy. I believe we need to do this for the 5th Test. It was idiotic, illogical, and statistically wrong to drop Murphy. The fast bowlers can only bowl so many overs. With no Murphy, it puts a major strain on the side, hence why we have looked inept in this innings.

The frustrating part is Warner is one of the most aggressive openers in test history .

A strike rate of 70 etc

where's that guy

I know. I'm talking like he's Sunil Gavaskar, when he's just about the most successful aggressive opener there has ever been. It is so sad to see. That said, he did play a lot more positively in the first innings, but Marsh is just in sublime form, and I think he would do a great job setting the tone for us.
