If we do not take many wickets then for the afternoon session(s) we may need to defend and frustrate. Rain will shorten this game, but perhaps not by much. England will want to take that out of play and score quickly in the sunshine.
Once Root and Bairstow are gone I almost fancy Murphy for a bit more than just containment - he has variety and unskilled bazball batting could come undone against it.
But plan A must be to attack. If we can get 2-3 hours batting on this deck today in the sunshine that would be great.
