AFL Player # 5: Elijah Tsatas

Just like how Cox, Reid, Perkins were all supposed to be weapons. Just because you're a top 10 pick doesn't automatically mean you'll be any good. Yes he can improve, but statements such as "he'll be a weapon, or he'll come good" should never be used especially with our track record.
Exactly. He has some massive flaws in his game which are really obvious, and people are either singing "give him time to work on them" or "we can cover for that because he will be so good in other areas".

It hasn't worked once for us in 6930 days and it isn't going to work now. You can't win much footy with liabilities. We have them all over the park and Tsatas is only going to add to it.

His standout attributes are elite acceleration, speed, marking and a bigger body which is a unique set of attributes the way the game is heading.

People jumping off him because he's not a Lachie Whitfield-esque kick on top of a already stacked list of positives is pretty bizare. Pretty sure if he was all of those things, he'd be a paradigm-shifting generational player.

I see him becoming a bit of a Shiel/Danger hybrid type of player. I'm bullish.

Yeah I've only watched the Kayo Minis of his games, but nothing I've seen suggests he is a well rounded player. That kicking action is atrocious, for any level.

I feel like Hobbs is one of the only players that the club's drafted in the past few years, where you look and think "there aren't any massive flaws; with time he'll actually develop into a good player".

Maybe Durham? (His issue seems to be disappearing for a few games)

Nearly every other player has one or two (or more) alarming flaws that just won't cut it.

The club has a woeful eye for talent, to go along with its non-existent list strategy, and apparently haphazard development program.

People saying it’s too early to judge him, give him time etc.. It is, but it’s also not too difficult to forecast ahead, and based on his strengths, weaknesses, what he might become.

And when you start to list through his strengths and weaknesses, it feels like his best outcome is a taller, slightly quicker Parish.

And good for him. That’s a really good AFL player. But we as a supporter base have just spent the season ragging on Parish for the most part, cursing his limitations.

Tsatas may well turn out to be a fine player, but his skillset is just not what we desperately need at all.

With your first pick should be able to get reasonably balanced players. We are looking for real x factor and hoping to iron out deficiencies but at this stage I am not even thinking flag but just building something that resembles a genuine football team.

That top ten looks really solid.

We pick the guy who can’t kick.

Dodoro you marvel!
RFK . At least get the right bloke . RFK was his big fan .

He will get better. Problem is he will be another player that needs a support cast as he will never be a physical beast like Dangerfield. He will most likely be Adam Treloar with better clearance skills.

Yep, well I’m backing him in to being a terrific player, and not hold him to performing at some godly standard where he has to be a physical beast, explosive, elite ball user in his 4th game after back to back 100point smashings.

Mate, he'd make andy look like nick daicos at the moment :p

That is quite easily the worst kicking action ive seen at afl level

Seem to recall adam had a poor kicking action but he fixed that.
Need to nip it in the bud now

You need fast hand when you can't absorb pressure.

Fast hands barely rates as a positive.

Wise man once said...Every mountain has a valley next to it, that's the way it was formed. ..find your greatest deficiency , your biggest talent is right next to it.

Can't absorb pressure, can't kick, valley. Fast hands, mountain (or defence mechanism)

I don't think anyone was raving. But don't let facts get in the way of hyperbole.
Fact ? You do not need fact on BF ! more fact in a coaches press conference than BF

I see you write these alot and rarely get pulled up on it

So...
eDPS ’s boy looks alright.

Thank goodness we did not take Phillipou

he’s a jet, high hopes for the future

Looks like he’ll be a star, to me. Has great skills, knows how to find and win the football, and makes excellent decisions on what to do with it.

So much to like about him.

He’s a player

a player in my lingo is going to be something special

Once he puts on some beef he'll be a gun.

Finds the footy - evasive and elusive - great tank

Sharpen the skills he'll be amazing - great footy nous too - that's stuff YOU CAN'T TEACH (similar to Marto)

Wow... I was not sure about this pick but I'm now very ******* excited

Its almost like eDPS was onto something with this kid.

haha damn did we actually nail a top 5 pick?

Balanced, agile, competitive and knows where to run Tsatas much as you can ask for a pick 5 mid in game 2 - It's finally happening!!
