There will also be a waste recycling machine, a wildlife rescue centre and wellness centre to maximise the community funding rort

Seriously, $50m for that f*cking rubbish. What a joke.
My answer to that is actually pay attention at the next council election ;)

I’d be interested to see a heat map of our Vic based members.

I suspect WH is less and less relevant.
Exactly. Geographical location has become almost irrelevant. I have friends who are Eagles fans despite never being to Perth.

It is less relevant to those who did not start their footy journey there . Agree that geographical location as far as the suburb and support base goes is pretty much irrelevant for most sides.

surely it would mean VFL would be based there as well, rather than at Tulla
VFL is based there. They could not use the ground in the first 3/4 of this seasons as they where doing some major drainage works.

A somewhat cynical mate explained the redevelopment phases to me -

Phase 1
Pillaging more money for problem gamblers

Objective - secure maximum government funding from community hot topics to pay for an uplift in value of the pokies business

What they said -
  • Windy Hill will undergo a significant facelift under the plan including demolition of a grandstand and relocation of a pokies and bistro venue.
A $30 million first phase would open year-round for community football, with refurbished social and function areas, accessible recreation space and grandstand upgrades.

Phase 2
The who gives a shit phase of window dressing

Objective - more faux community focused window dressing that there is no genuine intent to actually deliver because it was all about phase 1.

What they said:
- The second, more than $20 million phase, would build the Windy Hill Community Sports Centre, outdoor play areas, cafe, training track and moving the bowls club.
