Unfortunately it hasn't worked out for Tarrant coming to Richmond.
North were probably right about his body not holding up that's why he was only offered a 1 year deal.

It is what it is.
Doubly unfortunate with Gibcus going down at the same time.
Probably a good reflection of how there was to be no last dance for Dimma.
He is not Phil Jackson...and he didn't quite have an MJ either.

Tarrant = Chris Knights = waste of money.

On SM-J250F using BigFooty.com mobile app

Wouldn’t say he’s been a complete waste
Last year he was solid on field and can’t dismiss the experience and guidance he would of passed onto Gibcus and Young

Young in particular plays very similarly with the big fists to clear the ball into space

farrk, young is a turnover merchant though

gives up 4 oppo goals every week due to turnovers

Still think he will make it
Has most of the defensive basic’s covered pretty well just needs to work on what to do once he’s won the ball

Only been playing footy for under 5 years at any level so willing to give him some time

Time for the club to say goodbye to Robbie and thank him for his service and pay him his contract out and select a kid in the mid season draft
Even if the kid is not that great at least we get a look at him and we need to churn over as many as we can to find that diamond in the rough

Season is cooked and nothing to gain by getting another 6-7 games from Tarrant and certainly cannot be given another year

Without looking it up I'd say clubs passing on 2nd msd picks is more common than clubs taking 2 selections. Even the first few selections are long shots, let alone the last few. I highly doubt we'd push him to retire just to take a 2nd pick.

The way i look at it its a free hit and nothing to lose except a player thats going to retire end of the season anyway
you get 14 rounds to look at 2 players and if 1 is worth keeping then great

The Tarrant signing has to go down as another poor one, motivated by trying to stay relevant. He was probably a B last season. Had a pretty poor start - had a nice run, but his part in that awful final Lions goal really blew a lot of his value. He was signed to be the experience to stop that, at that exact time.

This year he has not played a single game & with the new direction, isn't likely to be needed. Its looking likely we have paid Tarrant $800k to play 20 "B" level games.

Do you really think he cost us that much mate? It would be unlikely and closer to $500k I hope.

Yeah but would have been better to get someone younger that might actually play a little for that money. I said at the time WTF 34-year-old signing.

What people fail to recognise is taz is another coach with soft cap rules in place we couldn't afford to employ him as an official coach

However as many clubs have done over last few years they get them cheap as players if they play good if not no harm done they r still coaching

Developing the young defenders in nyon young gibcus Bauer etc

Not at all. He is very composed in my eyes and for someone so green has been very composed with ball in hand. He is a nice long kick and usually pretty accurate. Balta would have a higher turnover rate. Has had one bad week where his opponent got hold of him.

Tarrant was low risk, moderate reward.
A best 22 replacement for Astbury for a couple of years after Astbury retired.

If we didn’t get him, Miller would have assumed that role and exposed us. Since then we have picked up Young but are still caught out there.

No issue with the pick. It’s a shame about his injury.

Tell me, who at the time did you have on mind that was ‘someone younger’ that might actually play a little for that money, that could hold down CHB?
