Was at Essendon when we traded for Tarrant.

Or are you referring to why he hasn’t retired thus far this season?
No referring to our assistant coach Rutton who would be coaching our young backs, in regard to your comment regarding Tarrant and coaching.
Yes more the merrier, but I'm not sure he would be doing much especially in that he is not on the park where they could learn from him during training.

Wasn’t my comment about on-field coaching, although to be fair I agree with it.

Rutten was the head coach of Essendon at the time we signed Tarrant. No way you could read the tea leaves that Rutten would be axed from Essendon and that he’d chose Richmond to return twelve months later.

To get him from North we had to offer a better contract (which for memory was two years over North’s one on similar money). Think he’d still be doing some on-field mentoring and coaching despite his injury.

With hindsight it may not have been the most perfect option; but it was still a low risk move. I guess the question is what have we lost? Don’t think Tarrant is making enough on his contract that we could have retained someone who left (no one did regardless) or stopped us from bringing talent in (we did anyway with Taranto and Hopper).

We didn't have truck at the time we had Kingsley coaching the backs robbie was brought in to support we couldn't forecast truck being available 12 months later
Not at the time of recruitment, I'm talking now in reference to your reference that he would be something of a coach to the younger players, hence I mentioned Truck because right now that is what he would be doing.

Tell me, who at the time did you have on mind that was ‘someone younger’ that might actually play a little for that money, that could hold down CHB?
Tiger71 could have done a better job. Could also add Micheals for that money.

Surprised we haven't heard about his retirement yet.

34 years old, hasn't been able to get on the park in half of a season. Clearly went on one year too many

I predicted he would be prime candidate for one year too many in the preseason. But that was based off play not injury

With Kaleb Smith being moved to the Long Term Injury list, it makes sense to keep Tarrant and not have him out to pasture just yet.

We are forced to make a minimum of three list changes at the conclusion of the season; which right now look to be Cotchin, Riewoldt and Tarrant retirements.

I was surprised in us having two MSD picks, and I can’t see us taking three.

It’s probably easier to manage the list movement moving into 2024 if we don’t use his list spot now (which we aren’t).

He still could retire and we don’t use the list spot in the MSD, but then I guess it’s kind of ‘what’s the point.’

He’s been training with the main group last week or two apparently. Clearly retirement not being considered at this stage.

Probably got sick of the trolls now on this board

constantly bagging the team the coaches and administration

Dont really know why they even bother

place is very quickly going to sheet
I haven’t noticed too many different faces. I just try and avoid confrontation now and respect everyone for having an opinion. I’ll tell them if I don’t agree with it and then move on. There are actually some poor troll abusers who actually go around playing fireman Sam wearing A plastic toy hat and driving on an electric toy fire engine. Their idea of putting out a fire is pulling out their doodle and urinating on the cat. They are generally the disrespectful and disruptive ones.
That Hardwick quit thread was a prime example where a few clowns got on and made jokes that I was partying with others bc he quit. It stirred the pot and the thread was poor for a while. It should have been dedicated to Hardwick’s success only and paying homage to him.

Anger management was never my strong point

Where are those two great men as they hardly post anymore?
Michaels fronts up every week for the show but Tiger71 makes cameo appearances. Why would they want to post anyway they are good blokes in Tigers case would get crucified if not cremated by some of the dudes that post here. It's a scary place BF Richmond forum.:'(

Oh ok. So you s**t can a trade but with that same collateral you have no idea how you could get a younger player that could do the same job for less money. Thanks for your input.
Dude I cant be arsed going back to see what was available 2 years ago and I'm not a recruiter but simple brains and maths tells me have a better chance picking up a 24 25 mature player eh Broad than a 34 year old as has been proven to be a WTF moment. Look at Collingwood in picking up Markov most would have laughed at that I bet his better value than that 34 now 36 year old we picked up.Let me do the maths for you 36 year old no play very soar. Markov 27 playing seniors for top of the table side.

We should put him on the inactive list to so we can pick up another mid season recruit then delist him at the end of the year because he's not part of our future plans.

Markov ain’t a kpd. He’s a good average flanker in a great system.
Young must of been available as a KPD . They’re around , but whether they were a better option than Tarrant at the time is the question. I thought he was ok, but I didn’t like the logic behind it bc of his age , speed and injury history.
No games this year means it’s a bust.
